Every Tool's a Hammer: Life Is What You Make It
Every Tool's a Hammer: Life Is What You Make It
I, like many people have enjoyed (to an extent) Mythbusters and of course therefore know who Adam Savage is or rather who his media image is.

Because of that I bought this book on a whim and because of the glowing reviews. Mainly that he is an extraordinary maker of models and other things.

Well, I'm always interested in learning more from highly skilled people who can create something at the very least interesting.

But, there's a 'But.'

I'm an old school marine engineer - an ex Chief Engineer - and I work in the oil industry in offshore construction. I've built houses and have two workshops. My grandfather was a tool-maker and my uncle a fitter and turner in a shipyard. In fact my entire family for generations have been people who worked in heavy industry making things like ships, turbines and precision tools. It's in my blood.

And because of that I'm fascinated by the new wave of what I'm beginning to think of as a bit wishy, washy 'makers' movement.

We used to call it DIY or model making and the people who did it created steam engines, made train layouts, model boats or made incredible bits of furniture. Today to be called a 'maker' you pour a bit of multi-coloured paint on a spinning disc or knock out yet another Damascus knife.

What I'm getting to is that what I consider a 'maker' and what many of the new movement consider it to be are two different things. And that's where this book to me is a bit 'wet.'

I was hoping to learn a bit more about Adam and find out more about his work on movies. And, whilst there is some of that, much of this book is padding and revolves around the modern idea of what a 'maker' is.

To me a maker is someone who can do complicated stuff on machine tools or use a woodworking shop to create an incredible piece of furniture, or designing and fabricating a huge dynamically positioned offshore heavy lift ship.

Much of this boils down to how to make a model 'thing' and there are plenty of actual YouTube video's about that around. There was a lump of this book dedicated to designing and making a replica Blade Runner gun. This involved a whole section on how to make a list of things to do. Hmmm.

In the end I found this to be easy to read, moderately good but ultimately unsatisfying.

The book came on time in perfect condition. I feel Ms Franklin held back a little too much with her life story. As the daughter of a preacher she claims her father had no problem with her having her first child at the age of thirteen. There is no way I believe this, I do not doubt that he still loved his daughter, however I feel she should have put fourth the reality of what it was really like and the true reaction of her father. I buy biographies, because I like reading about people's life stories, but Ms. Franklin did not tell me her life story. I could have found most of this information on Wikipedia. Maybe, she will one day write another one and let us know how things really went down.
Louis Armstrong with King Oliver
Louis Armstrong with King Oliver
This CD contains the Gennett, not the Okeh sides, less than half of the seminal early 78's recorded by Joe Oliver & Louis Armstrong. The two-CD set on Challenge includes all of these important early recordings of African American jazz music, re-mastered by the late great John R.T. Davies. To my ears, the Challenge set offers enormously better sound quality. And, oddly enough, it's cheaper on Amazon than the Milestone product, at least at this writing. But caveat emptor! I have seen a bootleg of the Challenge set floating around the used jazz bins in Chicago.

However, enthusiasts of the young Louis Armstrong may want to consider this CD for its inclusion of the Red Onion Jazz Babies sides, prototypes, you might say, of the Hot Five's and Hot Seven's. I don't know where else these might be available on CD. And these transfers, for some reason, are a bit more listenable on the Milestone issue than are the King Oliver numbers.
Now Foods Arginine 1000mg, 120 tabs (Pack of 2)
Now Foods Arginine 1000mg, 120 tabs (Pack of 2)
Well my friends. I had heard good things about L-Arginine with regards to, ya know, stiffening things up a bit. Of course, I was more than a bit skeptical. I am 45 years old, and Herbie still loves to get up and dance, but as of late he seems to not want to dance as long as I do. He would bust out of the gate like Secretariat, but didn't want to keep that stride for the entire race. I tried to reason with him and I took a firm stance. He, however, took a slightly softer stance. We have debated and sometimes, if the mood is right, Herbie would comply for a bit longer. Normally he gets the job done, and my girlfriend was fine with everything. NOT ME. I wanted 25 year old Herbie like he was glistening out of the showroom. I wanted him to run a Daytona 500, not a 10 lap coast which slowly came down to idle. I have Viagra which I will use on occasion if I really wanna go for hours and walk around with a baseball bat that can be used during a home run derby. But I do not like the headaches, flush face, and stuffed up nose that would accompany it. ENTER THIS CRAZY STUFF. I have been taking 2 tablets a day for a week. One in the morning, one before bed. No joke, by day 3 Herbie was acting like he just had a tune up, lube job (haha), and a new set of tires. This is not a testimonial written by the company or some employee. I am just like you. This is legit. I have had more sex this week with my girlfriend than in recent memory. I no longer worry about when he will decide to slow down and pull off to the shoulder leaving me looking like a lost puppy hoping for a tow. He just wants to keep going and I feel like I took Viagra, but without the side effects! Yesterday? We went at it 3 times. All 3 times, completed the race the way he started. These aren't sprints. We are talking 45+ minute cruises down the interstate. Needless to say, I am ecstatic with the product and highly recommend it to any others who have a little buddy that seems to want to putter out after a quick drive around the block. TRY THIS STUFF. You and your Herbie will thank me. **Disclaimer- Could this all be in my head? Placebo effect? Maybe? But I honestly don't think so. My girlfriend doesn't think so. I know what Viagra feels like, and this is similar. At least for me. Good luck!
Tempest
Tempest
It is amazing the number of reviews for this new Bob Dylan album on Amazon in comparison to what is possibly his most revered release Blood On The Tracks. Most reviewers do appear to award this a 5 star rating and whilst I feel that this is a very welcome return to form, this reviewer feels that a 4 star rating provides a truer reflection of the quality and content (In reality I feel that somewhere between a 4 and 5 star rating would be right). Every album release by his Bobness certainly since Bringing It All Back Home in the mid 1960s through to and including Slow Train Coming in 1978 were by and large superb with only a few momentary lapses in reason (Dylan / Self portrait / The Basement Tapes). Since 1978 I for one have found most Dylan album releases wanting with a few exceptions (Time out Of Mind & Modern Times & Together Through Life were good but not outstanding). This new release (Tempest) would appear to be a very welcome return to the form of old. We see a return to the long 'story book' songs typical of Dylan, and what is more important the melodies resemble those typical of his earlier work with the single exception of the opening song (Duquesne Whistle). It was this opening track which I first heard played on radio several weeks ago and based on this one song I had initially written this album off as another version of Love & Theft / Modern Times & Together Through Life and was prepared to ignore it. A few weeks after this Ralph McClean reviewed the album in depth on his Friday night show on BBC Radio Ulster and what I then heard changed my opinion.

The opening song I can take or leave and I feel that it sits uneasily with the rest of the album's content. In reality it sounds like an out-take for Love & Theft / Modern Times or Together Through Life. Track 2 'Soon After Midnight' makes a subtle change and the album settles into an altogether different mood. From this point on I feel that Bob seldom puts a foot wrong. His vocals which on recent releases have sounded very rough and gravelly, appear to improve in quality as the album progresses. There are times you can hear traces of his late 1980s voice from his Traveling Wilburys era. For me the pick of the tracks presented here are Tin Angel / Scarlet Town / Early Roman Kings. No doubt others will come onto my radar as time passes. Whilst I am slow to proclaim this to be a Dylan classic, I will admit that it has that potential. Only time will tell. If This is a CD I place in my player in years to come then it shall have made classic status at least in my books.
The Bootleg Volume 6: Bob Dylan Live 1964 - Concert At Philharmonic Hall
The Bootleg Volume 6: Bob Dylan Live 1964 - Concert At Philharmonic Hall
The Bob Dylan Scrapbook, 1956-1966
The Bob Dylan Scrapbook, 1956-1966
Really GREAT pictures of his earlier times--check out two of Bob's stunning pictures--one on page 23 and another on page 38--Wow!! Both of these pictures are very clear and sharp!! We like them that way, right folks? You also get replications of handwritten lyrics and replications of all sorts of interesting memorabilia, plus interesting reading also. This is a must have scrap book for fans. I'm happy I got it. I found it interesting to notice that in a very stunning picture of Joan Baez where she is next to Bob Dylan in a mini booklet inserted on page 28 that she had gorgeous lips just as Bob Dylan had gorgeous lips noticeable in many pictures and during the press conference at San Francisco--on the DVD, Dylan Speaks (during the close-ups). They made a beautiful couple indeed. Both had artistic style noses, beautiful long fingers and gorgeous lips. There are all sorts of things to discover and look at. What do you see or discover in this scrapbook?

Coco Reàl, Cream of Coconut, 16.9 FL OZ Squeezable Bottle, Individually Boxed
I liked the idea that this came in a squeeze plastic bottle rather than the Coco Lopez that’s in a can. I thought it would taste the same and easier to use. Unfortunately this one didn’t have much taste and seemed like it was watered down. On a positive note this coconut cream does have an expiration date on them unlike the Coco Lopez. I found that all the coconut creams need to be refrigerated after opening and then kept in it after using. This tends to make it too thick to pour with the Coco Lopez (that states to use it at room temperature) but not with this brand. It’s sort of a toss up as to which one is better but IMO I’d rather use the other cream and pour the contents of the can into a squeeze bottle before refrigerating!

It was actually really good
I can't tell why Amazon is selling Herbalife, but it seemed legitimate.
It's cheaper to buy it all on Amazon. My cousin gets his from a person who sells Herbalife. He spends 500+ on all his products a month. I spends 200 tops, if that, for all of the same stuff he gets. Pills, teas, shakes, protein powder for the shakes. You name it. I have been losing weight. It is best to use the protein powder in the shakes because it'll make you more full. I tried for a week without it and I was so cranky from being hungry (2 shakes a day for me). After adding the powder to them I felt a whole lot better. The tea is a big must for me. It helps keep the mindless snacking away. Which is a huge problem for me. I topped off at 375lbs. In about 3 months I'm at 300. So I'm happy.

I used to do beach body and wasn't losing any weight. I did it for 6 months. Including their work outs with their shakes. Nothing. I lost maybe 5lbs. Other than that I was gaining a pound here and there. They have so much unnecessary crap in their products that it causes so many issues. Sibo, infertility, migraines, the list goes on and on.

I am always skeptical of weight lost products, but since seeing my cousin who was 400lbs get down to 190 in a year... It changed my mind about them.

Obviously portion control and working out is a must, but I think shakes with all the vitamins and protein you need in them is awesome.

Eryone Glow Green in The Dark PLA 3D Printer Filament 1.75mm, Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.05 mm, 1kg (2.2LBS) / Spool
I received this a couple of days ago and tried to print with it yesterday. At first I though I was getting a clogged nozzle. The nozzle is hardened steel and the hotend is a micro swiss all metal hotend. Upon disassembly of the hotend, there was not clog. In fact, there was nothing in it at all. The filament was stuck in the PTFE tubing. I could not pull the filament out, so I cut the filament off and replaced the PTFE tubing (both were Capricorn brand tubing). I was immediately able to start printing again. I restarted my print job and several hours later the same thing happened. I have a dual gear extruder and it begins to slip gears while trying to push the filament through. I check again and the nozzle and hot end are clear, but the PTFE tubing has filament stuck in it. This happened three times within a few hours. I load normal PTL filament or PETG filament and it works fine.

After I initially wrote this review, I couldn't let it go that I didn't know what caused the issue. So I went to the box and pulled out two arms length of filament fresh off the spool that had never been through the extruder. I then used digital calipers to measure the thickness every few inches. What I found was that, in general, most of the filament was at least 1.75-1.8 mm. However, there were some places where the filament had a diameter between 1.8 and 2.11 In a piece approximately 7 feet long, I found at least a dozen places that were greater than 1.8mm. Granted, my calipers are not in any quality assurance program, but they do measure correctly when compared to machinist thickness gauges.

Also, I found a recent video of "Filament Friday" where the author also states print job failures with this product. In my opinion, there is a bad batch where the filament is larger in diameter than the specification. I could print small jobs, but anything that needed large amounts of filament would eventually hit one of these larger spaces and clog the PTFE tube.

This is the first florescent filament I've tried, so I don't know if this is a problem with all florescent filaments or a problem with this brand. But I can say I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

Funko Pop! Marvel: Avengers Infinity War - Thanos (10-inch Special Edition) #308
I was disappointed that when I received my order the box that the thanos is held in was completely beaten up. The top and bottom flaps do not stay closed and had to tape the top and bottom so it doesn’t fall out. You can tell the thanos has been removed from the box which affects its value and shows that it’s not new condition. Very disappointed and I wanted to give this as a gift. Definitely not worth the $66.
Dark Phoenix
Dark Phoenix
Let’s break it down! This movie is nowhere near as BAD as paid critics that write movie reviews for a living make it seem. The Rotten Tomatoes score is egregious! To be honest, none of the trailers WOWED me and all the trailers I saw seemed like a disappointment. In addition, weeks before its release, word spread like wild fire that this film is utter garbage. I was just bummed. Despite those less than stellar hypes, I knew I was going to see this movie regardless because I am a huge X-Men fan. Always have been.

I have to disagree with the low RT score, and what the paid critics are saying. I saw it twice already and just came back from the theater a second time, and I was thoroughly entertained. Movies serve as another form to tell stories, but are also forms of entertainment in itself. This film accomplished one of the boxes, which is: To Entertain. It did its job. Job accomplished, as I was thoroughly entertained.

The beginning of the film had a nice flow to it and I was invested, as the team was on a space mission. It gets right into the storyline. No BS. The middle of the film was a tad slow in my opinion, but it kicks into high gear for the final climax that doesn’t fail to deliver. I do wish this film was two parts to really flesh out the storyline, and perhaps to give faithful X-Men fans the true Phoenix saga they deserve. Especially for the diehard fans familiar with the source material. Did I want the Shi’Ar Empire, Star Jammers, and Hellfire Club in this film? Yes, I did! Given we all know films have a 2 hour to 2 and a half hour timeframe, I knew I wasn’t going to get what I wanted. There was no way to jam all that into this film. What I did get, I was pleased with. This is way better than Apocalypse where Bryan Singer just lost his steam. Word is, the climax was reshoot and the climax in this final version delivers. It is action packed. I am going to miss this cast. As a fan, i don't feel we had enough time with them. Don’t want to spoil anything, so pros and cons below.

Pros:
1. Nice performances all around from the cast.
2. Sophie Turner delivers a good performance and gets to shine.
3. The musical score by Hans Zimmer is great! I need a copy immediately. It fits the space element of the plot real well.
4. End climax fight scenes deliver.
5. We finally get to see the X-Men use their powers more so then any other film in the franchise. It is done in a unique, action-packed way.
6. Nice cameo from an unexpected mutant.
7. The film had a nice pace and flow. I was rarely bored.

Cons:
1. I wish the film was 2 parts to stay closer to the source material.
2. Mystique’s make-up and the actress are horrible. Her wig and nose job was very distracting.
3. The X-Men costumes are a letdown. The ones used in Apocalypse looked amazing though.
4. Sad there won’t be a sequel given Disney purchased Fox.
5. Wish some of the characters had more moments and their own individual story arcs, so they could shine more.

Marvel Logo Black Panther Avengers Super Hero Adult Tee Graphic T-Shirt for Men Tshirt Clothing Apparel
Simply Marvelous and subtly cool... It should be a licensed product from Marvel and a fantastic purchase. You can’t go wrong as it’s the Black Panther. However, the Shirt I received may be a knock off. Firstly, the graphic of the Black Panther is nearly unrecognizable. Secondly, the graphic also seems like an iron-on that may not last beyond a few several washes...

From the looks of the other shirts I have seen posted, the Black Panther is identifiable, and seems like the at el logo and graphic is printed directly onto the shirt...

Rubie's Men's Marvel Black Panther Deluxe Costume, As Shown, Extra-Large
This is a great costume and fits well. There was a little too much padding for me, but I already have large muscles and big chest. A little cutting out made it easier to manage. Wish it had a zipper or something that allowed for easier use of the bathroom. Had to slide it completely off to even pee. Looks great and comfortable if you are in cooler weather. Unfrotunatley I live in FL and it was 75 degrees that night and lost a few pounds sweating. I did upgrade the mask and bought the matching gloves. Mask was really uncessary, but gloves looked really cool. Overall worth it and looks cool.

Dough-Joe Pizza Steel Baking Sheet The Samurai--15" x 15" x 1/4
Dough-Joe Pizza Steel Baking Sheet The Samurai--15" x 15" x 1/4
I needed a stone that wasn't going to crack again and read many articles touting the benefits of steel. The best feature I'd read about was the supreme crust texture and fast cooking using a steel. And because it's steel - no cracking and will last forever.

I originally ordered the 3/8" size. This wasn't even the thickest one. It was so heavy I couldn't pull the oven rack out to slide the pizza onto it. I mean it was HEAVY! Like break your foot heavy. Ideally for the thicker steels the oven rack should be low enough that you don't need to pull it out and can just leave it there.

Not to be deterred I exchanged the 3/8" for the 1/4". The seller, Dough-Joe was awesome for doing this, thanks! I can say the difference in crust browning was so minor between the two thicknesses it was not an issue for me. However it's still a nice choice for pizza enthusiasts that will appreciate that slight difference. I preheat for 45 minutes to 500°. With the 1/4" I was able to pull the oven rack out slightly and slide my pizza onto it without incident. I lightly dust my pizza dough with flour as I hand stretch and shape it. Only when I'm ready to put toppings on, do I place the dough on a lightly floured wood peel. I work fast so it doesn't stick. I keep sauce to a minimum and keep toppings away from edges. Using a peel isn't as tricky if it's floured. I prefer wood as it soaks up moisture but may try a metal one later for comparison. If you make a really large pizza with heavy toppings, it's not a going to be easy to slide it off the peel, and may tear. I use a large metal spatula to coax just the edge of the pizza off the peel at an angle and onto the very back of the baking steel. The dough should stick instantly to the hot steel, which is preferred allowing you to easily slide the peel out from underneath. I find that easier than trying to slide the whole pizza off at once. Whatever works best for you! I'd say getting your pizza onto the baking steel takes some practice. You can use a pizza screen and avoid all those problems but won't get that beautiful color under the pizza crust, but you'll still get a great tasting pizza!

It takes only 6 minutes to get a mottled pattern on the underside of crust by baking directly on your steel. The crust will be crisp yet chewy. Cooked much longer and your pizza will be very crisp, and may dry out. It will also depend on the thickness of your dough. If adding basil or arugula, I toss with olive oil and add to pizza right after removing from oven. Otherwise it dries & shrivels up. I prefer mozzarella, romano and parmesean cheeses. Avoid pre-shredded as it contains anti-caking agents which tend to produce dry, crisp cheese and not melt as smoothly as mozzarella.

The pizza crust baked on this steel rivals a quality pizzeria. I especially love big, airy bubbles. Homemade pizza dough isn't an exact science, so your crust may look different each time, but that's what makes it fun! The underside of the crust always has dark mottled browning, which gives it that wonderful crisp yet chewy texture. Put pizza on a cooling rack after baking so it doesn't get soggy. I can honestly say my best pizzas ever on this steel!

There are different baking variations on pizza blogs. such as putting the steel on the 2nd rack - then turning on the broiler. Or pizza steel on one rack, pizza stone above it to mimic a pizza oven. Be sure you know your ovens limitations. Although I have a "professional home oven", by doing the heat and broil method, it was so hot, it confused my oven thermostat/circuit panel and shut my oven down. I had to have it reset after it cooled. Not the pizza steel fault, just oven limitations. I now just bake on a lower rack at 500° - causes no issues and pizza is consistently delicious, chewy and crisp. If cooking multiple pizzas, let steel heat for 10 minutes in between. Also if your dough has a little hole or paper thin areas, patch it or it will stick if sauce or toppings seep through. Whatever you do, be careful not to drop any toppings/sauce on your oven window - it could crack with the temperature variation. Hence only pull out the rack slightly (if at all) to get your pizza onto the steel.

The steel is seasoned and it's a brown color. I seasoned it again with a thin layer of avocado oil for one hour at 500°. (I'd advise doing outside on a grill as it smoked heavily). After that one season, the surface was black with more slippage and ready to use and no smoking. If toppings or sauce slip-off and begin to burn, let pizza finish cooking. When pizza is removed, use a metal spatula to scrape off any burnt bits. (Much easier to do while steel is hot). If it cools you'll need to remove, wet the cooked on chunks and scrape off with metal spatula/scraper. Wipe a thin layer of oil and that's it. Oily residues are fine, and washing it isn't necessary - you want the nice seasoning a cast-iron pan develops. Raised cooked-on food should always be scraped off as it makes the surface bumpy and sticky. I'd also recommend high-quality silicone oven mitts and a cooling rack. Once you get past the learning curve - you won't go back to a traditional stone! Also watch some YouTube videos for tips on making pizza dough and using a pizza steel.

Happy Baking!

Heller with a Gun: A Novel
Heller with a Gun: A Novel
Picked this up because it's the basis for "Heller in Pink Tights," one of the 35+ movies based on L'Amour novels. Haven't seen the movie, but rest assured, when I spot it - a western directed by George Cukor and with reputedly stunning colorful costumes by Edith Head - I'll be watching. But the novel is interesting all by itself.

King Mabry is a dead shot, and that's a burden. He's got a delivery to make, but he's got men on his trail; gunmen are always stalked by other gunmen wanting to make a name for themselves, or a pack tracking him from some job gone bad. But he's got a distraction. Stopping to save a wounded man, he sees a performance troupe, including three women, preparing to make a truly perilous journey through hostile country in the dead of winter... while a "guide" tells them it's an easy trip. Suspicious, attracted to one of the women, Mabry gets involved. And there's our real story, of robbery, risk, revenge, attempted rape, and murder. Nicely paced.

From what I understand of the movie, it starts with the same basic situation, but runs far afield story wise - so your experience isn't spoiled by reading the novel. I'm looking forward to seeing it now that I'm more familiar with the characters - although I must admit I'm a little hard pressed to picture Anthony Quinn as Tom Healy, Steve Forrest as King (Clint) Mabry and Sophia Loren as Janice (Angela).
Gypsy Days on the Delta: Carefree adventures cruising the inland waterways of the Sacramento Delta
Gypsy Days on the Delta: Carefree adventures cruising the inland waterways of the Sacramento Delta
Gypsy Days on the Delta was a real treat to read. For a Delta boating fan like myself, it was wonderful to step back into the late 1960s and read famous author Earle Stanley Gardner make love to the magic wonderland called the California Delta. It was fun to compare the places and people of the past to the present. A few of the places still exist like Korth's Pirate's Lair. The constant thread that remains about the Perry Mason author's experiences with the characters and people of the Delta is most of the ones he met may be gone, but the remaining ones are still friendly, intelligent, laid back, and very independent, interesting, friendly people. The houseboats that found their zenith of popularity in Gardner's era have gained some diversified yacht vessels that render equal comfort with full galleys, electric push-button toilets, and separate showers, as well as multiple bedroom state-rooms.

I enjoyed this book so much I went on to get Gardner's other similar book, Drifting Down the Delta.

Of course names of the waterways are still the same and Stockton has added a new $22 million marina downtown just a block from a new 14-theater multiplex and the remodeled Box Hope Fox Theater where big name entertainment frequently appears live on weekends. The Stockton City Arena is across the river from the new Stockton City Marina, along with the ball park, and a water front hotel. There are also numerous restaurants in the area for the enjoyment of boaters and others. A new cruise boat is berthed at the Stockton City Marina that offers dinner cruises and chartered sight seeing cruises into the Delta where you can cruise to places like Discovery Bay, the Beverly Hills of the Delta with its gorgeous waterfront mansions.

Great read--both books!

Pluto - Tome 8 (Big Kana) (French Edition)
Naruto, Vol. 28: Homecoming
Naruto, Vol. 28: Homecoming
After two years training with Jariya, Naruto returns to Konoha. Almost as soon as he gets back, though, Gaara, now Kage of his village, is kidnapped by the mysterious Akatsuki.
This is almost a new seres, as it begins part II, and unlike volume 1, it is straight into the action. The battle Gaara and Akatsuki member Deidara was very interesting. Looking forward to more about the Jinchuriki hosts of the tailed beasts, and the Akatsuki's plan to capture them.
Bleach, Vol. 57 (57)
Bleach, Vol. 57 (57)
Following on from the action packed volume 56, Bleach continues to hit its stride. 57 is more of the same - the epic battles, drama, tragedy and action that Bleach readers have come to expect. As it hurtles through its final arc, 57 is once again an unmissable volume - and 58 looks set to be so too. Byakuya and Yamamoto fans especially will enjoy their turns in the limelight this time round. Definitely recommended - if you'd dropped Bleach, the new arc is worth returning for!

The beginning of this season was lumped into the previous filler season so I downloaded these first few episodes to watch on the Wii instead of paying for 9 filler episodes. Recommended for those not interested in the filler.
The Mallen Litter (The Mallen Trilogy Book 3)
The Mallen Litter (The Mallen Trilogy Book 3)
The final instalment in the sweeping saga by Catherine Cookson, this time mainly featuring the offspring of Barbara (named the Mallen litter) and Michael's daughter Hannah. This is actually probably one of the saddest in the trilogy, I found, but still captivating. The Mallen curse is rife throughout the trilogy, but none moreso than in this one. Will the curse end with Barbara's boys? While he Mallen streak is the telltale white streak of hair in the males, in the woman it is more the somewhat stubborn and wicked ways. While the books are rife with drama, scandal, passion and pain they are written tastefully without colourful language and descriptive sex scenes.
Begin your journey with the Mallens with this book before moving onto "The Mallen Girl", and finally "The Mallen Litter", and you won't be able to put them down. I couldn't.

The Twilight Saga: The Complete Collection (5-Disc Blu-ray + Digital Copies)
If you're a big fan of the Twilight Saga, then you're going to love this set. If you don't yet own the movies on blu-ray, then this is probably the set you'll want to purchase. If you do already own them, then you need to decide if an upgrade is worth it. I'm not sure if it is, but below is a breakdown of exactly what's in this set (the most important of which is 2 hours of new Bonus Features) so you can decide for yourself.

The packaging is double-sided, with Edward/Bella on the front and Jacob on the back. The blu-ray discs come housed inside an exclusive photo-album case (with the discs inserted into the pages rather than in normal blu-ray cases). Unfortunately, while this type of book-style packaging is nice to look at, it has been known to scratch the discs - you'll want to be very careful removing the discs for viewing.

Siren Song: A Novel of the Espionage Adventures of Ian Fleming
Siren Song: A Novel of the Espionage Adventures of Ian Fleming
Before catching his plane in the morning to go to his winter vacation home in Jamaica, Ian Fleming attends a New Year's Eve Party in London. There he finds himself attracted to journalist Nora Blair DeYoung. However, his efforts towards an evening of delightful romance before hopping his plane fail.
Before boarding his plane, two British intelligence agents order Ian, a World War II naval intelligence agent, but now a reporter, to smear American Oscar Winterberg, who they believe is selling secrets to the Russians. The governments of both the Americans and the British strongly believe Oscar is a Communist spy, though the evidence is flimsy. Ian refuses before leaving for Jamaica. Soon to his delight Nora joins him at his vacation home, but she did not come for fun in the sun as she works for the Americans and wants Ian to join forces with her. His objective is to keep the spy he loves safe while hers is to expose Winterberg.
Though exciting at times, Ian Fleming is just not James Bond even if the premise of this novel and its predecessor DEATH TO SPIES is that the author modeled 007 after his own activities. The story line will hook the die-hard fans, especially those that remember Lazenby and Allen as Bond respectively. The story line is filled with action, but Fleming's motive to assist the peril of Pauline Nora never fully comes across. Still this espionage thriller brings to life the 1950s with its Red Scare so that readers will overall enjoy this 007 lite.

Ok, so first of all I'm not a 15 year old obsessed with this guys. I'm 19 and I thought they were just a boy band of Justin Bieber but I was wrong. I'm 19 and these guys are just "normal guys with an abnormal job" that's what they are. I received this product and my roommate was the one to received so when I opened it they were all laughing because we're all in college and stuff and come on I order a 1D movie... the thing is I've been wanting to see it since it came out but I didn't have the time or the money so I decided to order it. My roommates actually wanted to watch it with me. It's a great movie. It is not a concert.
I just love it. It's totally worth this price thou, I've seen it for $30. So this price is really good.
All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur
All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur
If you can put aside whether or not you like Tottenham, and whether or not you like Jose Mourinho, this makes for high drama, excellent entertainment, and genuine insight. There is, obviously, no such thing as "reality TV." The cameras are on and the protagonists know that. If you can suspend disbelief for a couple of hours, then there are insights to be had. How players see themselves. Camaraderie. The joy of success and the pain of defeat. Coach/player interactions .... I lament that the time Poch was at Spurs gets eliminated (half of the 1st episode?) almost entirely because the contrast between Poch and Mourinho would have been instructive. Also, the Sunderland and Leeds All or Nothing shows had fans narrate proceedings in large part, while this one does make the show Dan Levy and Mourinho centric. I hope that changes with the remaining episodes. This review is written after watching the release of the first three episodes.

Spoontiques Hogwarts Glitter Cup w/Straw, 20 ounces, Multicolored
The cup is nice and very attractive. However, the lid is two pieces, metal with a plastic insert. They are not connected. One has to press firmly on the rim of the lid to tighten or loosen said lid. Not quality. Started this almost immediately and my wife encouraged me to return, but my procrastination has lead me to just past the 30 day return window. Not happy with them, especially given the cost. Same thing happened with the other HP cup I bought my wife for her birthday.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
To say I loved this book would be an understatement. To say that this story opens your heart would not do it justice. Charlie's coming of age story of his life is a familiar one. You may not have been the super introverted teen but maybe you did possess some awkwardness. You may not have lost your best friend but perhaps you've been around death. You may not have been molested but you struggled with your emotions at some point. The point is, the story is so relevant that it can be tailored to any individual's life. I've experienced this novel three separate times across 3 stages of my life, having a different perspective each time. I've experienced this novel as an introverted high schooler, as a depressed adult in my early twenties, and then again right before I became a graduate student. I've since listened to the audiobook an additional three times and I've seen the movie more times than I can recall. The story can be heartwarming and yet concerning. At times you'll feel so empathetic for Charlie that your hear is tearing out of your chest. You can feel what he feels. And you want for him what you feel he's so deserving of. No matter what stage of your life you're in, whether you're 15 or 45, you can place yourself in a similar situation that will have its own consequences, it's own repercussions, or its own triumph. And you will become instilled which a greater self-confidence and apprecitation for what you're doing in your own life, or what you wish to achieve, or what you're trying to dig yourself out from. This story exudes a sense of clarity through you, and you recognize that as it slowly moves along.
Hogwarts: A Cinematic Yearbook (Harry Potter)
Hogwarts: A Cinematic Yearbook (Harry Potter)
Oh my! As an avid Harry Potter fan I couldn’t resist treating myself to this activity book (yes, I bought it for me, not my kids!). It’s a luscious hardback; very reminiscent of the annuals I used to get for Christmas when I was young.

It’s packed with activities for the reader to enjoy, my favourite being the ‘Breaking News’ pages where you get to be a writer for The Daily Prophet and pen a story worthy of the front-page.

You can design a potion, draw your own marauder’s map, and write your own magical family tree (complete with muggles). There are also a variety of postcards you can cut out and use, as well as a great selection of full-page posters from the films.

I haven’t plucked up the courage to write in my copy yet (eek!) but I’m sure when I do finally ‘conjure’ up my quill and ink I’ll have fun getting creative.

This is a beautiful book for any Potter fan and would make a charming gift.

Re-marks Harry Potter Students, Professors, Wizards, Hogwarts, and Crests Page Clip 5 Pack
If you're a Harry Potter fan and a stationery enthusiast like me, these magnetic bookmarks are an adorably geeky way to mark your page in the book or highlight a section of your planner. The designs of each of the characters, along with the house crests have a very cute style while keeping your favorite Harry Potter characters easily recognizable. While I love these magnetic markers and am already enjoying using them myself as well as sharing them with fellow fans, I was a little disappointed in the quality of the bookmarks for the price. While thicker than standard paper, the marks are still rather thin and could easily get bent or tone if you aren't particularly careful with them. Also, the magnetic part itself is one small square magnet glued to either side of the bookmark, which is effectively, but could easily be done yourself with cardstock and a roll of magnet - and in this way, they don't quite compare to the quality and durability of magnetic bookmarks that have a more integrated magnet design. They are also quite small which makes them convenient but also easy to lose.

I seem to learn more and more every season. I sometimes watch these episodes multiple times, so I can soak in all of the fascinating information that Christine shares with the viewer. What I also love is that you learn intimate details about each of these places from the people who actually live there and love their home town (or village). Christine really knows her stuff, but you can tell she's always excited when she learns something new during the interviews. Can't wait for the new shows!!!

Tiny Love Tummy Time Mobile Entertainer, Blue, One Size
Tiny Love Tummy Time Mobile Entertainer, Blue, One Size
This has been a great addition to my 4 month old daughter's baby toys.
We are always looking for new ways to keep my daughter engaged and happy on her tummy, as getting 10+ minutes in a day can be a challenge sometimes. Putting this in front of her has kept her interested and stimulated both on the floor as she lays on her tummy looking up at it, as well as on a table with her in her chair looking at it. Having toys that can keep her busy while I do a task around the house is a must have.

Pleasant for baby and parent:
The design of this toy has felt like a step above the typical electrical musical baby toys, as it has a more elegant feel and sound to it. The music is soft and easy on the ears... a mix of familiar songs in a soft instrumental version.
The color scheme still has bright stimulating colors (red, blue, yellow), but is grounded with a white base that helps balance the visual aesthetic.

Versatile:
We have used this for tummy time, we have used it sitting on a table, holding in our hand and it has been a great travel toy as it is not that big.

There are four modes:
1) Off
2) Music plus rotation and (white) light
3) No Music, just rotation (white) light
4) No Music or rotation. Tap activated light and sounds of a child laughing and talking

In the modes that have the rotation, the little hanging toys (apple and bird) rotate around the circular base and each of the apple and bird spin from front to back with a different pattern showing for extra interest). The base has rotating pictures of garden insects and animals that are cute and pleasing to the eye.

My daughter has enjoyed this toy and so have I. This is $25 well spent and would be an excellent gift.

Thanks for reading. I hope these comments help better inform your decision. If you found this review helpful, please click "Helpful" below. Much Appreciated.
ASURION 2 Year Mobile Accident Protection Plan with Tech Support $125-149.99
ASURION 2 Year Mobile Accident Protection Plan with Tech Support $125-149.99
I purchased a renewed Samsung Galaxy S-7 in September 2019 and purchased the two year insurance. There was a problem with the phone in December 2019. I tried to make a claim informing the Asurion insurance that the phone was no longer accepting a charge and would no longer turn on for service. Asurion insisted that I send the phone to Samsung for warranty service. Samsung received the phone and determined that it was not a warranty issue but impact damage with a repair cost of $70.34 before proceeding. Asurion refused to reimburse for the repair instead claiming that though impact damage is covered, they could not reimburse me for the cost and that I would have to have Samsung return the phone to me and then put another claim in to Asurion so that I could send the phone to Asurion. This is unacceptable. Asurion tried to avoid the insurance coverage by having me send the phone to Samsung. Now, I am faced with being without a phone for additional time. (I.e. the initial claim December 2nd (lots of on the phone/website hassle with both Asurion and Samsung); mail off to Samsung was December 4th; information regarding damage from Samsung December 10th; and now waiting for Samsung to send the phone back so that I can re-claim to Asurion.) Who knows how much longer this process is going to take. I don't believe that purchasers of insurance would expect to have such a long process for the repair/replacement of their cell phone. The insurance is an illusion.

I love my old Jimmy, but when it comes to securing my cell phone, I have had challenges up until now. First of all in California, we are suppose to mount our cellphones in the lower left of our windshield. Awesome if you can; 1. Find a suction devices that will reliable stick to the windshield and 2. It not be a hot day because my iPhone will simply overheat.
Note my AC vent? See the quarter stuck in the vent? That quarter is the sign of failure. Actually there are two failures. First since my iPhone has a real case on it, the magnet barely holds unless I stick it to the outside and even then, a bump and it falls. Then there is the reason for the quarter. The AC vents are not stiff enough to support my IPhone 6S! I can't imagine a bigger phone working very well.
Then there is another problem that my beloved Jimmy has. The cupholders are tiny.
This is the first device that reliably holds my small cell phone in place. The cupholder tightens up nicely in my small-is cup holders.
Also, the cable that comes with this set seems pretty well built and as a bonus, unlike many other iPhone cables, fits through my "O" brand uber phone case.

Edit for review adjustment. Good, but be prepared to fix a minor issue in warmer climates.
(See Second Image - 14Aug2020)
So a few months into this, our Northern California summers kick in. The cup holder phone mount is always loose and needs constant re-tightening. Then I notice the rubber pads are starting to move. Apparently the glue on the rubber pads is heat sensitive. The pads slide down and the cup holder phone mount squirts out onto the floor. Since the pads are coming off intact, I think I will be able to clean the tape off of them and glue them on permanently. I'd suggest the manufacturer reconsider a minor change here.

LEGO City Police Mobile Command Center Truck 60139 Building Toy, Action Cop Motorbike and ATV Play Set for Boys and Girls aged 6 to 12 (374 Pieces)
I'm a huge LEGO fan... however, I just can't get excited about this LEGO set. It actually pains me to say that this set frankly underwhelms and fails to appeal to my long-standing love of LEGO. Having said that, please know that this set is the great quality we have come to expect from LEGO... no problems or concerns there.

Pros:

~ You get four LEGO minifigs and a LEGO dog... that's a good amount for a set this size.
~ The LEGO minifigs are sporting some new designs and faces that aren't too common, which is always nice.
~ There's a good amount of detail on the inside of the command vehicle.
~ The truck that is pulling the command vehicle looks quite nice.

Cons:

~ I'm not a big fan of the new motorcycle design... looks too futuristic for my liking.
~ The small 'breakout' vehicle is basic and offers additional playability, but not much else.
~ The overall look of the command vehicle simply doesn't appeal to me.
~ There are lots of stickers which can be a challenge for young brickers.
~ The piece count vs. price on this set are below average... not a lot of bricks for a rather high retail price.
~ There are lots of pieces that easily fall off and come apart, which may make this set difficult for young brickers.

In closing, this is a great quality set... however, it simply doesn't get me excited. It's a rather common design and it's frankly just one more LEGO police set that we probably didn't need. I wish LEGO would transition more of their focus to non-police and non-fire designs, however, I know that these types of sets tend to sell best, which is most likely why they continue to get produced.

Overall, if you can find this set for a decent amount below retail price ($49.99), it may be a worthwhile purchase. If not, then I would shy away as I don't believe the value is there at retail price.

If my review was helpful, please click helpful below. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Happy bricking.

It’s kind of on the cusp of a 3 1/2 stars for this one.

Considering the price of this I would expect the versatility to be a little more, but it’s very serviceable if all you are looking for is a adjustable mount for your phone.

The main fault is that it likes to resettle after you adjust so you’re not going to exactly get the position you want, just in the general ball park unfortunately as it like to move. The mount itself has the clamp which only has to options and isn’t the most robust option.

Overall though, it’s serviceable and usable just a tad over priced, with some questionable design decisions, and lacking some functionality that you would want.

Pizza Peel - 15 inch - Large - Paddle - Spatula Premium Restaurant Grade Bamboo – 9-inch Handle.

When I see a manufacturer make a product this nice, I have to give it a review. This is a beautiful pizza peel that can be used as a cutting board also. The peel has a three-side easy glide tapered edge and is a true 15-inch Bamboo board with an 8-inch handle. The peel has actually two laminated Bamboo boards each with strips laminated together and then each board laminated to each other with the laminated strips offset to give the board strength with a total thickness of .5 inch. The peel has very nice natural color and is very flat and smooth with excellent (high) strength and light weight that gives confidence in virtually carrying anything on it and handling high temperatures. The 15-inch peel has a tapered edge of .875 inch for a total loss in diameter of 1.75 inch leaving a flat surface diameter of 13.25 inch for those big pizzas that allow you to use a pizza cutting wheel without falling on the tapered edge. The peel surface area was nicely designed for large pizzas and other chores as a cutting board and/or kneading bread dough board. The peel is of the highest quality and priced nicely and could very well be used in your home or restaurant for a decade(s) or more because it is so well made. I give the GreenerHome Peel my highest product recommendation and an excellent purchase.
ChuckIt! Kick Fetch Ball
ChuckIt! Kick Fetch Ball
Our 16 month old 55 lb female pit bull loves this toy!! We had started playing soccer with her with a regular soccer ball and she absolutely loved it. The only problem was that she really sunk her teeth into the soccer ball and the covering came off after just about three weeks of playing with it. The stitching also came apart to the point where the ball just needed to be thrown away.

We came across this Chuck It a while back and reconsidered buying it once the regular soccer ball got destroyed. WOW, what a great toy!!

This toy is similar to a soccer ball in that you can kick it. I will say, there is a slight difference because this ball is a bit bouncier so there is less ability for people to have ball control like you would with a regular soccer ball. For example, if you are playing with your dog and two adults, and one adult tries to catch the ball with their chest or stomach, it bounces off and away from your body much more than a soccer ball would.

The material that the ball is made out if is very strong and seems like it will hold up for a while. Our dog can grab the Chuck It more easily because of the large grooves in it that are made specially for dogs to carry this in their mouths. It is a great concept because she is less likely to bite the ball anywhere else or try to sink her teeth into the ball because she can get a good grip on it without doing that.

This ball is also easier to get away from your dog (we play "keep away" from her but she is WAY BETTER than we are). With a soccer ball our dog would almost always get the ball away from us - we cheated and had to use our hands - and even then the ball would easily slip away. The "grip" or "handle" style of this ball also makes it easier for humans to get involved in playtime with kicking, throwing and playing fetch. It is so much fun!!

The ball is easy to clean. You can just rinse it off with soap and water - or just water - and it will dry fairly quickly.

I highly recommend this ball for anyone who loves to play fetch or soccer with their dog!!!

My 5 year old son is the Red Power Ranger. So of course he needed a proper sword for his birthday. Unfortunately most of the other official licensed Power Ranger gear is very expensive. We did not want to spend over $50 for a sword that would get broken from consistent bashing.

We were happy to find this sword at a reasonable price. Surprisingly the sword is super sturdy. It has not flexed when slammed into my forearm at apparent full toddler strength. Haha.

Overall this is a great weapon to add to the Power Ranger arsenal plus it doesn't break the bank.
Stomp Rocket The Original Jr. Glow Rocket, 4 Rockets and Toy Rocket Launcher - Outdoor Rocket Toy Gift for Boys and Girls Ages 3 Years and Up
Stomp Rocket The Original Jr. Glow Rocket, 4 Rockets and Toy Rocket Launcher - Outdoor Rocket Toy Gift for Boys and Girls Ages 3 Years and Up
The stomp rocket comes with the launcher and four rockets; this is the junior version--the box is approximately 12"--easy to transport in the car etc. Basically the (foam) rocket is placed on the launcher and then the air pad is stomped/jumped on. The launcher can be placed at different angels (straight up to 90 degrees). Great grandpa said he'd give the kids $1 each if they got the rocket into the bucket. They were very creative. The five year old figured out how to get all rockets on the roof of the house so you may want to have a discussion about that ahead of time:) The rockets are glow in the dark which would be a blast as well--we did not try it in the dark. The rocket will be coming with us regularly.

Kids (and adults) love it. Kept 3.5 and 5.5 year old busy for over an hour straight and went back to it again after a rest. Some stomp rockets are too difficult to jump on which means the rocket won't "take off" or go far if it does. The little one was able to get it about 20 feet in the air and older got it on top of the house! When the adults couldn't wait any longer for their turn, the rockets went taller than huge trees--100s of feet in the air.

The only negative (other than going on the roof to reclaim the rockets) The launcher itself is a bit cheap and/or has a design flaw. It kept falling apart when the kids would "stomp" on the launch pad or put the rocket onto the launching area. A bit of duct tape solved that problem but believe the manufacturer should solve that problem instead! I still recommend it b/c it works so well that a little tape is worth it. If you don't tape it, the cross piece at the bottom that holds up the item just will need to be put back together which doesn't take long--more frustrating than anything.

Newest HP 14" HD WLED Backlit High Performance Business Laptop, AMD Athlon Silver 3050U up to 3.2GHz, 4GB DDR4, 128GB SSD, Wireless-AC, HDMI, Bluetooth, Webcam, SD Card Reader, Windows 10 S
Heads-up…Windows 10 and other default applications use up about 70% of the available out-of-the-box 4 GB memory. This makes for very sluggish performance and intermittent lockups of this laptop. I upgraded mine to 16 GB (although you could also upgrade to 8 or 12 GB). Huge difference in performance – now really happy for my purposes (portability, office apps., web, some light coding).
If you wish to upgrade, note that the Maintenance manual for this model states it is not upgradable; the implication being that you void the warranty with the upgrade. Therefore, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. It is pretty easy, BTW.

For the uninitiated, you should first back up your files and then power off the laptop.

Steps:
1. Turn the laptop over so the bottom is facing up. Remove the rear rubber guard strip. It is glued on – comes off easily with slight prying from a small screwdriver.
2. With a small Phillips head screwdriver, remove the 5 screws from the bottom and the 2 screws from the front edge of the laptop (image 1).
3. The bottom tray that you are removing encapsulates the top unit where everything resides (keyboard, mouse, motherboard, screen). It is a very tight fit and you can easily damage the plastic if you are not careful. I started separation using a very small straight-edge screwdriver starting about 1 inch to the right of the mouse. Once started, I used some plastic tools to separate the remainder (image 2).
4. Once separated, you will note the keyboard and screen will lift off as one piece, exposing the motherboard underneath the keyboard (image 3).
5. Image 4 shows the location of the memory on the motherboard. The board will be populated with one 4GB SODIMM. Specs of the DIMM are on the image. There is a second unpopulated slot. You can upgrade Slot 1 only, or both slots, with a myriad of choices up to 16 GB. Just make sure the SODIMM clock speed is the same if you are populating both slots.
6. Once you have the new memory installed, place (but don’t entirely secure) the top unit into the bottom tray. Power up the laptop and make sure everything looks good (Look at ‘About your PC’ to confirm you see the amount of RAM installed).
7. If everything looks good, pop the top unit back into the bottom tray, secure the bottom tray with the seven screws, and go have a congratulatory beer! Oh…and enjoy the big increase in performance you now have enabled.

For the price and quality, you pay for what you get and in this case it's not a bad thing. Runs smoothly on the tracks, it just takes a moment to ensure all cars are lined properly.

I do wish the volume could be adjusted. But I am happy there is a silent mode. With the silent mode, the train still puffs away.

For my first Christmas train, especially with a three year old, this will work perfectly for the holidays. I hope to find a tunnel accessory!

Update 11/30/2020: So after bringing out the train officially on Thanksgiving, it seemed to work just fine. But steadily, the whirring noise of the train running seemed to have gotten louder. We don't have the train sound on because it is at a very loud volume. So either we are stuck with the loud train sound or stuck with the loud whirring noise of the train moving. Returning this item asap. Even my three year old said to turn off the sound (whirring noise). I really really wanted to like this train set.

Also the cardboard village doesn't stand well.

This foam border/base board came rolled up and it was definitely not brown as the picture showed. To me it seemed more copper colored. At first I did not like it and I was worried all the creases from being rolled up would show after putting it on. I used this baseboard to cover the bottom of the wall in a basement so I wasnt really worried about how it may look unless it was just horrible but after affixing this to the bottom of the wall the wrinkles in the foam just seemed to blend in with the design. It doesnt look bad on the wall but it isnt brown which is what I was looking for. I attached a picture of the actual color I received. Again this went on a basement wall so I wasnt too concerned with the look. I couldnt imagine using this stuff on like your living room wall or something. I dont think I would do that. It was fast and easy to affix which is what I was looking for.

I love this lamb, I just wish there were separate buttons for the modes instead of just one. I also wish there was an option for continuous play instead of just the 20 minute option. There is a cry response mode but my baby squirms and fusses a lot before the lamb hears noise and turns on again
Which is sometimes too late. It’s a little annoying to have to push it back on every 20 minutes to keep baby sleeping peacefully.
ROCCAT LEADR – Wireless Multi-Button RGB Gaming Mouse
ROCCAT LEADR – Wireless Multi-Button RGB Gaming Mouse
Ok, so I read all of the reviews - mostly from the haters. I read about all of the problems with the software and the mouse itself. I also have a Roccat keyboard already and never experienced any issues with the software, so I thought they were being overly critical, but turns out, they were right.

Since I already had the software installed, I followed the directions and plugged the mouse cradle in (to be clear, the instructions included ONLY these steps:
1. Plug in the charging dock.
2. Turn on the computer and connect to the internet.
3. Download the Swarm software.
4. Install the software.
5. Turn on the mouse.
6. Pair the mouse.

The software (Swarm) prompted me to install new software to update the cradle. Done, easy. Then plug the mouse in to update the mouse. When I unplugged the mouse, I received a Windows error indicating a USB power surge. I plugged the cradle back in and it was dead. Great, I read this review. That poster was right.

I uninstalled the device and tried to reinstall. No dice. I finally removed Swarm and readded and started from square on. This time, it did not try to update; I thought this was my way to circumvent the update. Everything was working and looks good, so I tried to program the buttons. I programmed them, but then they were doing both the pre-programmed function and the new function. Some of the buttons, like profile select or dpi select weren't working at all. This is also the time that I realized the easy shift button is actually a SHIFT button, not a toggle. THIS SUCKS. I wanted a toggle.

Now at this point I'm seriously considering returning. Instead a post a few comments on some help forums and continue troubleshooting on my own while I wait for replies (I never did get any replies). I checked out the Swarm software and compared to screenshots I found online. Instead of saying LEADR, it said LEADR STAND. I figured that meant something and could be beneficial. I tried to just plug the mouse in multiple times, but had to keep removing and reinstalling Swarm to combat the USB power surge error. I finally figured out that I could unplug and reinsert 2 to 3 times and the device would finally recognize.

Lo and behold, it was now showing as LEADR in Swarm! But now it's wired...

I made my config adjustments and verified the new button mappings are now persistent. I moved the USB cable back to the LEADR STAND and everything stayed!

So now, is my mouse broken? Is this the correct process? I email support and explain to them what's going on, what I did, and asked if this was the standard process. And the answer...

YES, THIS IS THE WAY IT IS INTENDED TO WORK. The mouse can only be configured while it's directly connected, not when the stand is connected. Ok, I'm totally cool with this, but the directions do NOT say this at all.

I've been using this mouse now and I enjoy the button layout. I'm even getting used to the toggle easy shift. The mouse itself freaking rocks, but the software...oh boy, everyone is right.

Buyer beware!

Seems great quality but in product specifics states it is 27.56 inches at its longgest point on arrival at its longest point is around 10 inches. I purchased it for my son's birthday because he loves Simon and I paid $25 for product plus $14 for shipping. But it was the only one I found so I figured I would spend the $$$ but I am very disappointed. It is berly the size of my hand. Product dose not meet price.

Lovely design and solidly built. It feels quite stylish too with the nice carbon design finish. The carry handle is nice to hold too with the handle being covered in a non-slip rubber. It zips right around securely protecting the Switch because the case is a hard case and withstands being sat on or crushed in the luggage or car!
There’s plenty of compartments inside for the games if you want to take them with you, it holds 15 cartridges which is more than enough space. There’s space for the controllers and extra accessories. I love the little pop out stand which houses (props up) the screen at a lovely angle so you can play your games instead of finding things to prop it up on. I love this design feature the best.
I think it’s pretty cheap for the price, I was presently surprised with the quality of it when I got it. I have so many gadgets so I’m always looking for cases and carry cases to protect them. I actually take more gadgets on holiday than clothes in weight lol I need another suitcase just for tech stuff lol Anyway I’m waffling on! Lol Sorry!
If you think my review has helped you in any way could you please click the ‘helpful’ button below? I’d really appreciate that. Thank you :)
BLU Vivo XL4 6.2" HD Display Smartphone 32Gb+3Gb RAM, Black
BLU Vivo XL4 6.2" HD Display Smartphone 32Gb+3Gb RAM, Black
So far, I have gone through four generations of Blu phones. Two of them being the studio and two of them being the Vivo.
Out of all the budget smartphones I have ever owned, this one surpasses my expectations by far. Although I have only had it for two weeks, the operating system is very stable. The 3gigs of onboard memory seem to have no problem switching between applications, I have no lag or freezing.
The operating system itself is robust.
The phone itself is made of quality materials, and the notch display - although a little bit gimmicky, is very effective after time.
In the world of cases, you will be disappointed that the aftermarket appears to have not one single case available for this phone as of the 1st of January 2019. (Edit, see below).however, the phone does come with one clear silicone case, and one that has abstract art on it.
So what I have done is left the phone in its silicone case and it looks wonderful. for only $150 this phone is absolutely fantastic and for the average to above-average user - they will find incredible value for this.
If you want to make an amazing gift to your parents or grandparents and bring them into the smartphone community, this is a wonderful way to begin at all.
The ease of the operating system, the speed of the processor, and the build quality of this phone are all very nice....
Now as for the the sound quality - coming from the twin rear speakers: it is above-average. Not fantastic, but totally acceptable. The speakers are rear firing, and facing out from the back they create pretty decent sound.

I cannot speak on the fingerprint reader as I find any security on my phone obtrusive.

The pictures that the camera produces are on par with any average smartphone. Totally usable and totally acceptable by sharing and showing standards.

It is almost unbelievable that you get this much phone for the money. I will update this at the 2-month mark, as that is when the phone really shows its bones.... But thus far I can only give it my highest ratings and congratulate Blu.

Micro USB.. no problem. The standard today is USB-c but transmission and data rates are still fine. And lucky you! you probably have a lot of micro USB cables laying around the house 🙂
I mean what the heck do you expect for a unlocked smartphone less than 150.00??

With specs close to an Iphone, it blows my mind people spend more.

And I read a review about the operating system. In my opinion, it is modern, fully functional and will be relevant for at least two years. If you make it to the two year mark with this phone, then truly you will know what quality and value can be, thanks to Blu.
In all my years as a tech guy even in the army, this device is worth every penny and I stand by my review 100%

I do not work for Blu , I do not get paid or compensated for anything. I write this as a thank you to them for saving me and my elderly mother money and allowing us to have nice phones we can enjoy and afford.
(I have now purchased 3 of these.)

For one new iPhone you could get 7 of these for your friends and family that would love to have them, if they weren't jaded children anticipating something 500+$

This phone is the KING of the budget smartphones oh, and if you are ever in a jam and needed an unlocked phone immediately, you could just keep this one on deck and be good to go for a very long time.

Oh did I mention that the battery lasts all day long and then some, and I'm a super user 😋😋😋.

again, I will edit the review at the 2-month Mark but so far I give this phone a solid A.

Edit : so it's been about 45 days with the phone. And I continue to only praise it.
I keep reading the highest rated comment about blu not upgrading their operating system. As I said in my review before, who really cares about that? This operating system will be totally usable for at least 3
2 years.
I've also read comments that say that the hardware messes up the experience. Okay whoever you are out there.. what in the heck are you expecting for $150.

I'm 40 years old, middle class, I use the phone more than a regular person.. and I say once again I recommend this phone absolutely.
If you don't like it, you can return it as well, what do you have to lose??

Also as of the last week you can buy an extremely nice case to fit this phone. It was just released about a week ago and I compare it to a Spigen... It has a nice internal bumper as well as a solid rubber shell . It is the case that you want and it's only 14 bucks.
Tudia case for vivo xl4, they sell it on Amazon right now.

So, get the phone, and get a black case.. you spent $180 and you have a fantastic piece of technology.

Don't believe the other headlines, especially the one about Wi-Fi. That is definitely not a phone issue. The phone cannot connect to your home internet because it's not on the same radio band. That is a very easy fix done through your Wi-Fi router settings.

Not everyone is going to have a great experience - but I would say for the most part these phones perform excellent.

After 45 days I still grade this phone A.
CENTURYLINK Greenwave C4000XG
CENTURYLINK Greenwave C4000XG
Received one from centurylink when I got fiber. Two major problems:

1) It usually struggles to get the full advertised speed... during the install it got 950mbps after the tech restarted it a few times, but usually only gets 450~600mbps.
2) Wifi frequently breaks and requires a daily restart -- I gave up and am using an old router as a wifi access point.

For now I'm putting up with it because supposedly centurylink phone support is extremely slow and I don't have time to waste hours on hold (I miss my old ISP already). All the online threads say the only solution for now is to downgrade to the previous model until they improve the firmware on this model.

So I would recommend not buying this until (if) the software is improved.
Crock-Pot 7-Quart Oval Manual Slow Cooker | Stainless Steel (SCV700SS)
Crock-Pot 7-Quart Oval Manual Slow Cooker | Stainless Steel (SCV700SS)
I had to retire my 10 year old crockpot after years of regular and semi-abusive use. I am not going to lie I was disappointed when I pulled this flimsy version of my old reliable crockpotout of the box. So my old crockpot was a more upgraded version with a digital clock and digital settings low - high - warm. This one is more basic. I was okay with that idea as to be honest there was a learning curve with my old crockpot (the timer and heat settings never worked perfectly) so I figured simplifying that part wouldn't be an issue. I didn't realize that the entire unit would be more cheaply made. The stoneware portion of the product was good quality as expected, but the heating element and base are seriously lackluster. Is it that expensive to produce quality products anymore?? It must have taken them 10 soda cans worth of material to make the base. The handles are cheap cheap plastic and mine are scratched up just out of the box. My old crockpot lasted 10 years. I would be shocked if this one made it 5 years. I am making a dumpcake as a trial run as I type. ****SERIOUS BURN HAZARD!!!!**** The stainless steel exterior becomes more than a little warm. I touched it with a knuckle and instantly regretted that decision. I had read reviews that said it gets hot, others said it gets hot but that is to be expected. My previous model would get warm, and could maybe burn you if you left your hand on the surface. This one gets HOT. Like you just touched a pot that has been heating on high on the stove hot. I really do not like that. I have children and pets and will have to be careful where I put this unit. It could potentially damage your kitchen if left too close to ANYTHING. This also makes me nervous about setting this crockpot and going somewhere or even when entertaining. One too close anything will be a melted or firey mess. I keep thinking of having hotdog buns near it and how quickly the plastic of one of those bags woukd become a melted mess! Also since the world of crockpots have netoriously short cords where are you suposed to set up this little molten fireball?

This product comes ready to use, just unwrap the filter. I used two air purifiers on Thanksgiving for our small family dinner.
My grand daughter is allergic to cats. It seems the filters removed a large amount of cat dander from the air. She did not have much of a reaction. The air in the house just seems fresher. I am really happy with my purchase.

Walkers Nonsuch Regaliz Toffee 150 g bolsa x6
For licorice lovers who for years who have been on a search for the licorice toffees that C & B made and seemed to have vanished, Walker's have the same or at least as I so fondly remembered. Every time someone in a candy shop said they could no longer get them but the Irish ones or where ever they came from would be similar. They were about as similar as a cat is to a dog though they might both be black. You will not be disappointed as these arrived fresh and within a couple of days shipped from NJ. A friend ordered from another site and it is being sent from the UK so he must be patient before his addiction is feed. No, I didn't offer him one of my bags as I don't share licorice like this with anyone. Who knows, they might disappear again.

Fisher-Price Imaginext DC Super Friends Super Surround Batcave, interactive Batman playset with lights, sounds and 5 exclusive figures
This Batman toy was a big hit for Christmas. One of my children’s favorite toys. It was given to my 6 year old boy, but it was big enough for both my 6 year old and 4 year old to play with it at the same time. Very well made toy that will hold up with two rough boys. The plastic was a little thicker and sturdier than most plastic toys.

The toy has cool lights and sound effects that my kids loved. I’m posting pictures of a few of the colors changing. It does have a helicopter pad, so I did purchase an Imaginex Batman helicopter separately that I also found on Amazon. Also can be seen in one of the pics I posted.

It didn’t take long to put it together, maybe about 15 minutes. The pieces easily fit together and snapped in without a lot of force. It did have about 6 screws that you had to assemble in a back plate and after connecting two wires together for the lighting and sound effects. It was not difficult at all. It needs 3 C batteries and did not come with them. What I liked the best...I didn’t have to put stickers on ANYTHING. That saved me time and frustration.

The toy was well packaged and shipped quickly. It matches the picture and description. I think it was a little overpriced when I purchased it, but I waited until the last minute to find this anywhere, so they got me. Not many left. I am happy though with the product and the purchase. I’ve never had any issues with Imaginex toys and I can see my children playing with this one for many years.
