AngularJS Programming by Example
AngularJS Programming by Example
This was a quick read, I completed it on the way to work (roughly 1 hour). It wasn't comprehensive and didn't get too deep into AngularJS but what it does, it does well. Anyone who is looking at getting started with AngularJS and wants to break your mind free from the traditional approach of web development should start here. After reading you can continue to the Angular.JS API documentation page for further study.

It should be noted that there are plenty of typos and grammar errors within this book, none of these however impact your ability to read.

Kudos to the author for bothering to include multiple languages (Node.JS/Express, Node.JS/Socket.io, PHP, ASP MVC) and IDEs ( Jetbrains (Idea/Webstorm), Netbeans) for examples.

TL;DR:
Pros:
- Quick intro to AngularJS
- Easy read
- Multiple Language examples ( Node
Cons:
- Typos & Grammer - nothing dealbreaking though
Notes:
- Not comprehensive. Continue studying on the AngularJS website.

If you go to the Angular.js website you can find a full list of functions, directives, services, providers, filters etc. This book should only be used to understand how Angular.JS can be incorporated/expected to work.
Front-End Tooling with Gulp, Bower, and Yeoman
Front-End Tooling with Gulp, Bower, and Yeoman
I have used Gulp, Bower and Yeoman in several front-end JavaScript projects. Indeed, I have used the tools singularly, in pairs, or all together--and never given them much thought. I have followed their basic installation and use steps without really understanding what each package does. This book (nicely written and well illustrated) delves into the importance of each tool and how it is structured. And the author proves example code for how each tool can be used. The book's goal is to show you how you can set up an efficient automated development workflow for web projects (initialization, development, and deployment). But it also can give you a new appreciation for Gulp, Bower, and Yeoman. Gulp is described as "the build system" and "heart of your toolchain," and Stefan Baumgartner explains that "Gulp's main goal is to define a file-processing pipeline that runs your source files through multiple stages." Bower, meanwhile, is a dependency manager or "package manager." It manages the "self-contained modules that your application uses as a foundation for new software parts or as an extension to existing software." And Yeoman provides a scaffolding tool "that gets your project up and running," Baumgartner writes. "It creates the necessary folders, copies initial files (like build scripts), applies boilerplate code, and triggers the installation of dependencies."

You should have some experience with JavaScript and Node.js to effectively use this book. My four-star review of "Front-End Tooling" is closer to four and a half stars. I think that some of the code examples in the book could have been presented with a bit more clarity (such as where to best position some of the described new lines of code). Nonetheless, this is a worthy book for web developers wanting to know more about working with Gulp, Bower, or Yeoman.

My thanks to Manning Books for providing an advance reading copy for review.
The Prize: Who's in Charge of America's Schools?
The Prize: Who's in Charge of America's Schools?
Russakoff does a great job documenting a city that is normally ignored. She outlines the issues in a powerful narrative, and has no problem showing the arrogance of the righteous--Cory Booker, Chris Christie, et. al. If Booker runs for president in 2020, this book needs to be re-released, and he needs to be asked about what is contained here.

February 1, 2019 update: Because Booker has announced his run for president, I thought I would place here my full review for my blog and Africology: The Journal of Pan-African Studies.

Book Review: Neo-Colonialism By PowerPoint: The Fight For, And Against, The Newark, N.J. Schools

The word “conspiracy” gets thrown around a lot in African communities, ever since the middle of the last century. And it’s understandable: the assassinations of King and X, the discovery of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s COINTEL-PRO files, and the disposal in one way or another of any leader of African descent who doesn’t toe the blood-dotted line of the West. But how much of a conspiracy is it when the victim doesn’t have the required amount of power for self-determination in the first place? This book, released today, is about how relatively powerless people fought back against their status when, insult to injury added, even their relatively little power was taken from them.

It starts with Cory Booker, the neo-liberal mayor of Newark, New Jersey, and Chris Christie, the conservative governor of the state, secretly deciding all by themselves in the backseat of a Chevy Tahoe in 2009 that they will transform American education by turning Newark into a laboratory for the New York-based, greatly monied education reform movement. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook, develops a political man-crush on Booker and signs on by 2011, pledging $100 million (to be matched by other donors) to make New Jersey’s largest city into a charter-school haven in five years, staffed by six-figure, non-unionized teachers. Like the benevolent colonizers of old, all believe they go in with good intentions: self-government by the dark, poor people has not worked in the internal colony, the reasoning goes, or the state would not have taken over the school district back in 1995. The teacher’s unions are stopping progress, the reformers argued to themselves, by making sure they tie the hand of local politicos and school board members. So, they privately reasoned, the only way to change the system is to overthrow it—to go past all the community obstacles. So they hire $1,000-a-day consultants and get to work.

After absorbing the opening shot heard-round-the-world of the revolution it now understood it was a pawn in, the Newark grassroots is then introduced to Cami Anderson, a white woman of hippie background who has been named the school’s superintendent by Christie and Booker. Like education reformer Michelle Rhee did in Washington, D.C., she then sets out, from the community perspectives, to close as many schools and alienate every teacher and parent she can. Meanwhile and not coincidentally, charter schools, some rising out of the closed public ones, begin flourishing in the the old, struggling-against-decay, never-recovered-from-the-1967-rebellion ghetto, providing resources and specialized attention to small, selected groups of poor Black and Brown children the always-struggling public schools can’t match.
Everyone flexes what muscle they have. The teacher’s unions demand their back pay as a condition to their negotiations with Booker and Anderson over being able to fire bad teachers and financially reward good ones, and get it. The money people get their calls answered from the celebrity mayor, who eventually uses his Captain America persona to get elected to the U.S. Senate in 2013. Newark students organize and protest Anderson, with more than a little help from a well-known local name: Ras Baraka, a high-school principal and city councilman (and one of the sons of poet-activists Amiri and Amina Baraka). He seizes the issue that will get him elected mayor in 2014, defeating a Theo Huxtable-type candidate propped up by the same education reform movement. “The festering resistance to Anderson, the backlash against [the top-down reforms], and the first mayoral campaign of the post-Booker era became one and the same.” The street protests grow so large and consistent in Newark that Christie—days away from announcing his Republican presidential nomination run this past summer—makes a deal with newly-elected Mayor Baraka that, at this September 2015 writing, may transfer city education power back to the people a year from now. A bewildered Anderson is sent packing, replaced, amazingly, by a former state education commissioner—one of the chief architects of the neo-colonial plan! Whether the new school district superintendent cleans up his own mess is this story’s next chapter, to be written by today’s journalists and tomorrow’s historians.

Dale Russakoff, a longtime Washington Post journalist and resident of Montclair, a middle class suburb of Newark, embeds herself with Christie, Booker and Anderson while, simultaneously, sits in on more than 100 school-related community meetings (“There it was again: disrespect. The word rose from conversations all over the auditorium”), and the reporting not only shows, but shines. Her spectacular juggling act blames everybody but those whose demonstrated first commitment is to the students. In her telling, nearly everyone involved received something and/or learned something but the city’s least-of-these. She makes a clear observation that needs to be on T-shirts in the city: “For four years, the reformers never really tried to have a conversation with the people of Newark. Their target audience was always somewhere else, beyond the people whose children and grandchildren desperately needed to learn and compete for a future.”

The book’s author might not agree with the following assessment: that her carefully crafted work clearly documents that white supremacy’s psychotic historical urge to covertly or overtly experiment with the lives of poor Black people—whether medically, socially, economically or, in the case, educationally—is not some obscure 19th or 20th century Africana Studies classroom topic, but as current as the next awarded education grant. African-Americans used to be classified as sub-human, because of their three-fifth status under the U.S. Constitution. Then, after the Civil War, they became second-class citizens, because they didn’t have the right to vote or use public accommodations. In this updated 21st century form of pseudo-democracy, poor Black and Brown communities like Newark are filled with sub-citizens: those who have no input on their future, no matter how much taxes they pay and how often they vote. Christie and (especially) Booker should be ashamed of their public actions here, but who could, or would, succeed in shaming them that they would actually respect?
The First Apple: Sold by Steve Jobs from his garage in 1976, discovered in a storage auction 28 years later
The First Apple: Sold by Steve Jobs from his garage in 1976, discovered in a storage auction 28 years later
This is an odd book. After the author buys a rare Apple-1 computer at a storage unit liquidation auction, he descends down a rabbit hole of learning about the people who originally created it, as well as the people who bought the originals or collected them later.

Apple-1’s are indeed rare; only a few hundred were originally made, and most of those were traded in (and later destroyed) as their owners eagerly exchanged them for more capable Apple ][‘s. Only a few dozen Apple-1’s are thought to still exist, and some have recently traded hands for hundreds of thousands of dollars. This book focuses entirely on this one original Apple product; so if you’re looking for a more general history of the company, its people or products, this isn’t it.

There isn’t much of a narrative thread to the book; it’s mostly a series of interviews of people connected with the Apple-1, either in the ‘70s when it was created or currently as collectors. Some of the stories are interesting, and do re-create Silicon Valley in the early ‘70s; a very different place from what it is now. The writing in the book is uneven, I noticed several misspellings (or perhaps transcription errors, e.g. “bite” instead of “byte” when referring to computer memory). He does have a useful glossary in the back for non-technical readers. Photographs of the people, places and products discussed would have been a welcome addition.
Richard Branson: A Biography
Richard Branson: A Biography
This story of Richard Branson is well narrated and interesting to listen to. I enjoyed learning how Richard Branson overcame many difficulties in his life and also learned from his many mistakes to become a well-respected personality known for his business acumen and personal drive on both sides of the Atlantic and throughout the world.

My only suggestion for the author would be to have written an even longer book which might consist of stories of a number of well-known (or even not so well-known) people from whom we might get inspiration and ideas. I loved this audio book although it was very short.

I was given this free audiobook at my own request and have voluntarily left this review.

Biography of the Billionaire Tech Mogul Who is Pushing Humanity Forward
By: Dan Scott
Narrated by: Kevin Theis
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
This is a short book but very informative. It has very personal info about his early life, his married life, and college life. More detailed information about his early business ventures then it chronicled his later ventures and his current plans. Very interesting man. This also gave the reader an idea of his feel of where the world should be going and how he planned to help. I found it very interesting and I learned a lot about this man. The narrator was very good about giving the facts without being boring and having a clear voice and a soothing voice. Perfect for this book. Enjoyed this book completely.
Burt Rutan: Aeronautical and Space Legend
Burt Rutan: Aeronautical and Space Legend
Burt Rutan is one of my modern heroes, and I have read a number of books and articles about him. Daniel Alef's work is one of the best I have read. It flows smoothly from Burt Rutan's early life up to the present, and it captures all the details and highlights without bogging-down on every single aircraft ever designed.

Yet this book isn't just a biography of Burt Rutan. It's also a fantastic business text. In addition to my day job developing and licensing university intellectual property, I'm an entrepreneur after hours. There are numerous examples and tidbits of Burt's business acumen and strategy.

I would love to meet with Burt to talk about science, engineering, design and business, but short of an actual meeting, this book is the next best thing.
Oprah Winfrey: Oprah Winfrey Greatest Quotes and Life Lessons (Inspirational Quotes Book 1)
Oprah Winfrey: Oprah Winfrey Greatest Quotes and Life Lessons (Inspirational Quotes Book 1)
"What I know for sure is that what you give comes back to you." ~ Oprah Winfrey

Mark Johnson has written a thoughtful book highlighting Oprah's words with his own explanations. Each lesson begins with an Oprah quote, then Mark Johnson weighs in with his insights to expand on the ideas. Some of his advice is really great. A lot of Oprah's quotes resonate with my heart. She has read a lot of good material and has absorbed a lot of positive thinking. She then seems to process it through her own viewpoint. A lot of her advice comes from a life of rich and varied experiences. Oprah has taught me that I should be the person I'm meant to be. She also has insight into what people really want in life. So a good quote book to start with and some very meaningful quotes.

God, Trump, and the 2020 Election: Why He Must Win and What's at Stake for Christians if He Loses
God, Trump, and the 2020 Election: Why He Must Win and What's at Stake for Christians if He Loses
The author divided this book into three parts: Part 1 is 'What's at Stake in 2020''; Part II is 'Understanding Donald Trump' and Part III is ;Understanding the Spiritual Dimension'. The third part is the one that had the most difficult parts for me. The reason I say that is that a couple of the chapters discuss things that I do not believe wholeheartedly. Examples are: Prophecies and signs in the Heavens and is Donald Trump foreshadowed in the Bible?

On the other hand, however, the author has presented a clear picture of the Trump Derangement Syndrome and the Equality Act that failed to pass. He also states the reasons that President Trump must win....and, then in the next chapter he does say that he could lose. I found this a balanced representation of both sides of this equation.

The author suggested reading this with an open mind which I did. The portion on Christianity and Secularism affords the readers to think seriously about where they stand in this realm. And, many pastors are having difficulty speaking what they believe because of their congregation(s). (This area had to do with abortion).

Lots of points to ponder in this book. May not be your cup of tea but the author has presented a concise and thoughtful inside look at the political climate and spiritual warfare. Interesting read for me.

Highly recommended.
Trump: The Biography: From Businessman to 45th President of the United States: Insight and Analysis into the Life of Donald J. Trump
Trump: The Biography: From Businessman to 45th President of the United States: Insight and Analysis into the Life of Donald J. Trump
I thought I’d read up on the person that has 45,000 deaths in his tiny, baby hands (as of this writing 4/21/20) and is running our country into the ground. Well, I haven’t learned anything new but I can confirm that he does have family so there’s no reason for him to act like a wild animal. trump has made his money by ripping people off for his entire career. trump is not good at businesses but he is great at dividing a country, racism, passing, the buck, scapegoating, bigotry, collusion, predatory behavior, and lying. You’ll find none of the class and presidential qualities from our past president, in this book about our current orange imposter. Save your money it’s not worth it. I’m sorry we can’t get back the last four years, don’t blame me though. I voted for HRC. But hey, this is all a democratic hoax, right? Right!?!?

OCP Oracle Certified Professional Java SE 11 Developer Complete Study Guide: Exam 1Z0-815, Exam 1Z0-816, and Exam 1Z0-817
This is a very large book, coming in at 1200 pages, but that is because it is the author's 815 and 816/817 books combined. The authors highlighted how to use the book to study for the 815, 816 or 817 exams, so it is easy to use, but if it's too much for you, they are also sold separately.

I'm not finished with the book yet, but I like what I read so far. I started by looking at the security chapter. I really liked that Hacker Harry and Security Sienna characters were used to teach security. It made what could have been a dry chapter a lot more fun.

If you are taking a Java certification, I highly recommend this combined book or the two separate ones.

24 Stemless Plastic Champagne Flutes - 9 Oz Plastic Champagne Glasses | Clear Plastic Unbreakable Toasting Glasses |Shatterproof | Disposable | Reusable Perfect For Wedding Or Party
I had previously ordered flutes for a baby shower and now needed more for a bridal shower. I mistakenly ordered these, thinking they were the same as the ones I had gotten before. The picture was the same. I should have checked closer. They were not the same!! They were much thinner, less sturdy and no where near as nice as the ones I had gotten before. Upon doing a double check in my previous orders, I noted that the ones I wanted were by Munfix. These flutes are by Prestee. Lesson learned... carefully read the description! These are being returned.
JBL Professional 1 Series, 104 Compact Powered Desktop Reference Monitors (sold as pair), Black (JBL104)
JBL Professional 1 Series, 104 Compact Powered Desktop Reference Monitors (sold as pair), Black (JBL104)
The bad: I have returned 2 pairs of JBL 104 speakers because they somehow both interfere with the graphics on my Mac Mini. I cannot offer a reason, simply that at the exact moment I switch the speaker power on, the graphics on the connected mac mini completely fail. After about 10 (very worried) seconds after speaker switch off, the graphics on the mac mini came back. This has happened with 2 consecutive speaker pairs and thus I will not be trying another set. This has been punctuated by my mac mini audio disappearing from the audio hardware list during use of the first speaker pair. The audio has now returned.

The good: the speakers worked absolutely fine for me when plugging an MP3 player in to the front socket. The audio seems great for audio creatives - low noise, balanced and detailed response with a hint of warmth (that might reduce listening fatigue from a less warm design) as I would expect from JBL. The product shape is great for placement in a limited workspace. Bass seemed well controlled about 6 to 8 cm from the window (I don’t use speaker at high volumes though, testing was all at moderate to low volume) - good for a rear ported speaker set. I especially like how well protected the cones were (firm metal grille) and yet how good the sound was.

Conclusion: good albeit forgiving monitor speaker for audio creation based on limited testing with mp3 player only; completely untrustworthy speaker due to bizarre effects I’ve never experienced before on my mac mini’s graphics and audio. My mac mini is old (2009 / 3,1 model; well cared for) and I feel like something in this speaker (potentially some quirk of grounding that perhaps more modern computers may not be susceptible to) has negatively affected the audio and graphics. As I use this mac for mixing and production I cannot use these speakers. Disappointed as without this issue they would be perfect. Going for Eris 3.5 instead.

Garrett ACE 400 Metal Detector with Waterproof Coil Pro-Pointer II and Carry Bag
Long time Metal Detector/Relic Hunter here.
Bought this Garrett ACE400 package from High Plains Prospecting for my birthday as my Whites Spectrum (left at my recycling center for someone else) was getting long in the tooth (20+ years) and could not see buying more $70.00++ battery packs for such an old unit. Plus it was HEAVY. The ACE400 is a highly regarded, simple to learn and light unit- and it runs on 4 AA batteries. It is a great unit. Don't be put off thinking this is some 'beginner' machine- It is a fun and easy to use workhorse for beginner or veteran detectionist alike ! I Know- cause i've been there with moderate to very expensive and advanced units. Just bought the 5x8 DD coil and cover today from High Plains Prospecting as I was pleased with my Garrett purchase from them last month.
If you want to find coins and relics- this machine and your research and grit will take you there.
High Plains has some of the best package prices around.

Green Panda Natural Bamboo (Made USA) Toothbrush (Pack of 4)
These toothbrushes have been fantastic! The bristles are soft, yet firm enough to clean the plaque and excess junk off my teeth. My gums were unused to the firmness of the bristles at first, but after the first week I noticed my gums are the healthiest they have ever been and I feel great about how clean my mouth is! I love the fact that not only am I being more sustainable, but I am also taking better care of my mouth than before. I honestly can't imagine going back now!
Marvel Boys' Ugly Christmas Sweater
Marvel Boys' Ugly Christmas Sweater
This is a real knitted holiday sweater. Not a printed image. It's an amazing sweater for the price. My little 3 year old Marvel fan was a hit at all of our holiday parties. He felt like a true superhero. It has stood up to many washings. My 3 year old is really rough on clothes. He's a rough houser and a foodie so I'm working with dirt, grass, and food stains on the regular. It's still in amazing condition and hasn't shrunk one bit.
Marvel Thanos PVC Bust Bank,Multi-colored,4"
Marvel Thanos PVC Bust Bank,Multi-colored,4"
Bought this because I collect this kind of stuff. I have most of the Monogram Bust Banks and have to say this one exceeded my expectations. It is nicely detailed and painted very well. The paint wont last long if you intend to use it as a coin bank however. It will last for years and years if you get it to show case as was my intended purpose. It's larger than most of the other banks except the new HULK. With Thanos being the main antagonist going forward with all Marvel Movies it's a perfect time to get this detailed Bank Bust before he become over priced and hard to find.
Deadpool: Secret Agent Deadpool (Deadpool: Secret Agent Deadpool (2018))
Deadpool: Secret Agent Deadpool (Deadpool: Secret Agent Deadpool (2018))
In Secret Agent Deadpool gets to play James Bond. The main problem is DP playing the hapless fool in the middle of a bunch of spies and secret agents with a bad guy plotting against the world has already been done by the Archer TV series.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t some good spots in the story such as when DP gets heisted while he is trying to heist a mini-pony. Or when Wade Wilson uses miniature snowmobiles to kill some bad guys. It’s just that trying to make fun of the spy genre has already been done before and so expertly by Archer that it seems like a waste to do that with Deadpool.

The one big twist is at the end when the bad guys talk about controlling god’s pencil and all that means. That was another breakdown of the fourth wall that DP always likes to talk about.

One good thing about Amazon is I can select specific songs and just download what I want and leave what I don't care for as much. You probably remember buying a cd and only liking one song. Problem solved
I Wish That I Had Duck Feet (Beginner Books)
I Wish That I Had Duck Feet (Beginner Books)
My daughters are grown and out on their own, but when they were in elementary school and parents took turns reading to their classes during Right to Read Week, I always read this book and the children loved it. Cleverly told and brightly colored, fun illustrations made this one of the favored books at our house. When my oldest daughter's best friend, who practically grew up at our house as one of our own, became pregnant and for her baby shower they requested a book be given in place of a card, I immediately knew which book I would buy for her. I highly recommend this book.

got this to study the style of an admittedly blockbuster writer of the old days. As expected, the writing is uncomplicated and terse, not really into literary finesse but blunt force effect. The yesteryear values are too much part of the stories, which are themselves weak, so the work does not hold a lot of water in modern times. Still, an interesting window into the past, if you can stomach the female servilism and conformism of the author

GREEN MOUNTAIN MAN (Harlequin Presents #272)
"I do still love you and want you back again."

Jonas's gaze roamed possessively over Bridges upturned face. "So don't think I've given up, because I haven't."

She gasped at his audacity. How dared he come back as if nothing had ever happened? She thought of her struggle to rebuild her world without him in the small Vermont town--the placid, comfortable life she'd finally achieved.

He wanted her back, did he? Well, he could just think again. Jonas had walked out of her life ten years ago, and she wasn't going to let him walk back into it!
Dragon Ball ( Volume 1 of 16) (Dragon ball (1)) (Japanese Edition)
Dragon Ball ( Volume 1 of 16) (Dragon ball (1)) (Japanese Edition)
I've had this book for 10 years now. Dragon Ball originally started in Weekly Shonen Jump 31 years ago, and then the first volume came in September '85. Dragon Ball is one of my all time favourite mangas from my hey day, because I've been a huge Dragon Ball Z fan since 2002 and it's always been in my blood.

The first volume is primarily the start of Season 1 of its Anime counterparts, Goku meets Bulma and searching for the dragon balls changed their lives. There are 42 volumes in this set, which by 2006 I've completed collecting.

Nowadays if you're planning to buy Dragon Ball vol. 1 in Japanese brand new or used, the dust cover may or may not be different than this product listing, because the older printings had the familiar oriental spine that says "ドラゴンボール 一", in which translates into Dragon Ball #1 in Japanese. The new re-printings now have modern dust covers that are convenient these days.

The Mysterious Rider Illustrated
The Mysterious Rider Illustrated
The Mysterious Rider perhaps would have been better titled, Beauty and the Beast, and I am not in any way being disparaging. Zane Grey used the same type of plot lines for many of his books, and then added an extra character to bring the book to its logical conclusion. A young girl, the adopted daughter of a wealthy rancher, is forced to marry the rancher's no-good, drunk of a son, while the young girl loves another cowboy as different from the son as could possibly be--a similar scenario is found in Heritage of the Desert. But here a "mysterious stranger" is on the scene to make things right. And we can all guess who this "mysterious stranger" is, can't we? If you can't guess, I'm not going to tell you and ruin the book. Still, having said that, this book is a good Zane Grey romance told as only the master of historical romance could tell it, and worth reading--even more than once.
Leveret Girls Boys & Toddler Solid Turtleneck 100% Cotton Kids Shirt (2 Toddler-14 Years) Variety of Colors
Leveret Girls Boys & Toddler Solid Turtleneck 100% Cotton Kids Shirt (2 Toddler-14 Years) Variety of Colors
My daughter is 8, and very thin, but average height. She normally wears a 7/8 in shirts. She normally doesn't like turtlenecks (that too-tight feeling around her neck bothers her), but the neck on this one was fine -- snug to get over her head, but not tight at all around her neck.

Some turtlenecks have a lot of fabric in the neck (in terms of folding it down), and/or fit tightly around the neck, but this one didn't. As a matter of fact, it could probably have been slightly "taller" in the neck (there's enough fabric to fold it down, though), but I was glad it wasn't too snug. Otherwise she would've been uncomfortable.

The arm length on a size 8 was fine for her.

The overall length of the shirt was fine for her (if she raised her arms, no skin shows).

We needed a white turtleneck to go underneath her cheerleader uniform. This one worked perfectly! Very pleased with the fit.

However, if your child is average weight/thickness, this will likely be more fitted on them in the torso area. If your child is tall, I think it will still work, though. If your child has a bit more meat on her/him (which is perfectly normal. My child is challenging to fit at times because she's a bit of a stick), it will probably be quite snug in the torso and may not work well for you. But for slender/smaller kids, I think it's perfect, especially being worn underneath something else.

Country Theft Story [In Japanese Language] (Volume 4)

We bought this for our daughter because my copy (from my childhood) is falling apart. Since it's a special copy I wanted to keep it, so we got her this one. It came in on time and in great condition. The only weird thing is that it's a British copy so the words are a little different. Biscuit for cookie, sausage for hot dog, sledge for sled, etc. Kind of cool though. :)

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (4K UHD)
Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (4K UHD)
Also für immer 21?
Renesme altert so schnell.
Poems By Hermann Hesse Selected and Translated By James Wright
Poems By Hermann Hesse Selected and Translated By James Wright
The collection - to my philosophical taste - starts out slow: poems of beauty. But after a few pages: bam! - poems of meaning, angst, metaphysical longing. I am not sure if this thematic trajectory is an artifact of how the collection was collated or if this trajectory parallels development of Hesse's psyche. I've seen a similar kind of thematic arc in other poets (in Esenin, for example).

In sum, these poems are a "backstage pass" into Hesse. As for the edition: I haven't had a chance to see the 2008 one - but this one, 1970, has both German and English - and German, whether you read it or not, provides - font-wise - an a propos goth-y, existentially angst-y, visually cameral background to the English translation.

The Body Farm: Scarpetta 5 (Kay Scarpetta)
I wasn't sure I'd like this one. Someone told me that this series dies off around this time but I have all the books and want to read all of them.

I liked the part about her niece finding herself as she grows up, finding herself in a gay relationship. I'm not too sure about all the Quantico stuff where theres so much security that it surely would be impossible to bypass all the security, but hey, I'm only the reader.

The actual crimes were a good read, of which I'll say nothing coz it'll spoil it for anyone bothering to read this review.

I feel sad for Marino. It's time he got himself a decent woman. He can't live off his desires for Kay any longer.

The Kay/Wesley romance thing is very intriguing.
Unofficial "Half-Blood Prince" Update: News and Speculation about Harry Potter Book Six by J. K. Rowling
Unofficial "Half-Blood Prince" Update: News and Speculation about Harry Potter Book Six by J. K. Rowling
Everyone can recognize that the internet brings unprecedented access to information - the key question has been over how humans will adapt to this new capability to extract maximum value. W. Frederick Zimmerman may be one of the first of a new breed, an "information shepherd". He takes a broad range on information available across the web and subjects it to a series of reasonable, logical tests to determine what makes sense and what is most logical. I loved the information in the "Unofficial 'Half-Blood Prince' Update", because I am a Harry Potter fan, and me and my kids will be in that bookstore at 12:01am on whatever day the next volumes emerge, but I was even more interested in the methodology used to sift and assess all those random bits of information (lost sheep?) roaming the internet. This is a pathfinder for a fundamentally new kind of book, and I would be interested in seeing the same methodology applied elsewhere. And as an added bonus the author's prose is both lively and concise, making this a very pleasureable book to read.

The Unofficial Ultimate Harry Potter Spellbook: A complete reference guide to every spell in the wizarding world (The Unofficial Harry Potter Reference Library)
I just got this and love it Every character from the Harry Potter books movies and play are in this book has every one of them. All the Potters and Weasleys, there's the Black Family tree, 115 names of famous wizards on Chocolate frog cards, a list of the Ministers of Magic from 1718-1980, the four houses of Hogwarts and the Wizarding institutions from around the world, the names of the Order of the Phoenix, Death Eaters and the 13 Quiddich teams. There is 334 pages and depending on how much information we have on each character will have a sentence or two or a page or two on them. I'm a nerd and have stated reading it page by page beginning at page 1. Oh and all the names are in aphabetical order beginning with Theophilus Abbottand ending with Zograf. I think the only thing that would make this better is if there was a picture of every character. But you can't have everything! So if you are wondering no there are not any pictures. I still think it is a very lovely book filled with all kind of information, which makes me happy.

Unlocked 3G Seniors Flip Cell Phone, Uleway Dual SIM Card Big Button Easy-to-Use Mobile Phone for Elderly (Blue)
I bought this mobile as a gift to my elderly father. It was just what he was looking for, with a clamshell closure so as not to initiate unnecessary calls. It belongs to an uleway brand but has nothing to envy to well-known brands. For the technical characteristics consult the product description before buying it. It is light, easy to use, blue color. It connects to the internet but I haven't done so yet. Radio and flashlight function, camera. I just need to see if a memory card can be inserted. Ideal for the elderly and those who do not love technological cell phones. Good value for money. As soon as possible I also insert a video to play the ringtones.

pro:

✔ materiali ed estetica ottima
✔telecomando
✔giostrina staccabile
✔ molteplici melodie molto rilassanti
✔rumore bianco

40 Inch Large Black Balloons Numbers 8,Foil Helium Digital Balloons for Birthday Anniversary Party Festival Decorations
Upon inflation this balloon had an issue. Somehow the person inflating it poked through and then the balloon would not seal. Because of that we had to use tape and it turned into a headache trying to keep the air in it. Sadly upon saying the item was defective and didn't work well we would have had to deflate it pack it and send it back. It sounded like a lot of headache for a balloon so I just kept it and didn't do anything else with it. Once the party was over we cut it and threw it away. I was just sad that there wasn't an easier way to get refund.

Community-in-a-Box: How to build event-driven professional communities
Community-in-a-Box: How to build event-driven professional communities
I stumbled upon one of the Community events that the author organized in the past and found it to be well organized, helpful and very valuable to growing my career. Because of that I kept going back for more and more community events, and also recommended that my colleagues do the same. Over time I saw the community become more successful, but never really thought about how or why.

This book helped me understand the magic, hard work and thought processes that went on behind the scenes. It was detailed and informative, and also well organized so it was easy for me to pull it out for reference every time my partner and I decided to run a community event of our own.

There are a lot of references to the Author's experience in organizing the Enterprise Sales Forum, but from my personal experience I find that this knowledge and experience also ports over into other kinds of community events as well.

I hope my fellow readers will enjoy learning from this book as much as I have.

Augusta Sportswear Men's Wicking Mock Turtleneck
It's a beautiful shirt slightly heavy but fills real good. However the shirt was way too long and probably large in shoulders. To use it I wear it under a large sweater. It is cotton and has shrinked slightly and that helps. I would buy again, but one size lower. For the price it is great
"anti snore pillows"
"anti snore pillows"
I have to be honest, I hate memory foam pillows. However, after recent neck injury, a shredded memory foam pillow was suggested as slighty softer than a single memory foam pillow. It took about 5 nights to get it right, too high as had another pillow below, too low without. But after about 4th night i noticed that i hadn't been woken up in night as much with pain. By the 5th night I had best night sleep I have had in months. It's not a cosy snuggle down pillow, and in fact is quite heavy. So if reading or watching tv i use a softer pillow on top of this one. But know if I fall asleep on a softer pillow I will wake up shortly with awful neck pain. Anyone who has been deprived of sleep, for whatever reason, babies, ill health, insomnia...know how it affects your whole life. Not just your life, but everyone around you suffers too. It might not work for everyone, it's certainly not a miracle cure for my pain. However, it does allow me to have a few hours sleep undisturbed by pain, and that to me is priceless. Thank you so much.

[2 Pack] iPhone 12 Pro Max Privacy Screen Protector, LYWHL Tempered Glass Anti-Spy Screen Protector for iPhone 12 Pro Max 6.7” 2020 5G, [Easy Installation] Anti-Peek Black 9H Hardness Bubble Free Case friendly
It says case friendly, but they should definitely specify what kind of case. Will not work with a life proof or otterbox case.

As far as privacy goes, it darkens the screen. But you can still see whats on the phone from the side. So its not really effective.

I didnt care about the privacy part as to having the tinted glass to slightly darken the screen at night because these new iphone screens are to bright for me when im laying in bed even with the darkness all the way down.

About this item
Blast off into out-of-this-world fun with Fei Fei doll (9-in) and glow-in-the-dark Gobi figure! This lovable pair from Over the Moon looks just like their characters in the movie, with details that fans will recognize and love. Fei Fei doll comes dressed in her iconic space-explorer outfit with her removable t-shirt, shorts, bubble jacket, astronaut helmet, and galactic moon boots. She has 11 bendable “joints” for stellar storytelling play! Also included is Gobi, a magical Lunarian creature who’s looking for companionship. He glows in the dark for stellar storytelling play!

I got this as a well as the collector doll, and chang'e singing Goddess doll for my daughter to start a doll collection. I wanted to get her this less expensive version to play with. This doll is really cute and fun. The outfit that she's wearing matches her outfit in the movie perfectly! Even the packaging is beautiful. I love that it comes with the adorable Dobi character and that he glows in the dark. My daughter is really going to have so much fun playing with these and acting out scenes from the movie which she loves.

My daughter is going to love that this doll is so pose-able, she has one other posable doll and she loves putting it into every crazy dance position possible.
The designers and creators sure did an amazing job with these dolls and im very excited to give them to my daughter and for her to start her collection.

VIVO Dual 13 to 30 inch LCD Monitor Desk Stand with Base, Fully Adjustable Freestanding Mount with Tilt and Swivel | Holds 2 Screens with Max VESA 100x100, STAND-V200F
I was originally looking at a dual-monitor stand (on Amazon) that cost about 1/2 the price of this one. Maybe it would've been a good buy -- I'll never know. The reviews on both stands sold me, especially ones that detail pros & cons (thanks people!). I just went with my gut instinct in purchasing this one because it seemed to appear more durable and solidly built, along with mostly favorable reviews. Heck, even the Q&A's helped seal the deal. I tend to take my time digesting everything about a product before buying ... even checking out the 'unboxing' videos on YouTube.
So anyhow-- it was easy to assemble, but like one reviewer said, you might need a helper when attaching the second/upper monitor to the VESA bracket. I've got a pair of Viewsonic 22-inch LCD monitors on mine. The bottom monitor is 2.5 inches from my desktop, or 1.5 inches away from the base of the stand. The upper monitor is set just above the top of the lower one (stacked, per se, on top of the lower one). If need be, I have another 8-inches remaining on the pole above the second monitor's pole mount, although I think there would be a precarious balance if I had it mounted at the tip-top of the pole.
I have no qualms about the stability of the balance as it sits right now, nor would it alter if I nudged both monitors up a few inches. I also feel that everything about this stand is rugged and secure. Nothing shoddy. The hardware can be snugged up without concern about it snapping/breaking/cracking. The plastic caps that cover/hide the 'tilt' bolts are easily removed so you can used the included tools to loosen and adjust the the tilt. Left/right pivot/pan is also adjustable, as is the rotation. Again, the product comes with all the necessary hardware, bolts and most tools (you need a Phillips screwdriver and maybe a helper to hold the upper monitor for mounting).
If you're used to having a desktop LCD monitor with a small footprint, you will need to accommodate more back-to-front real estate on your desk/table. I had no problem and I'm glad I freed up space on the left or right of my desk (where a pair of monitors sat next to each other). However, here are distances you'll need to consider: 9.5 inches from the back of the base to the front of your lower monitor. Then add 3.5 inches in front of that for the remaining protrusion of the base 'feet.' Total is 13-inches of footprint from back-to-front of the base stand. At its widest point it's 12-inches left-to-right, but your monitors are likely wider than that anyhow.
One negative concerns the instructions. They're kind of vague, mostly graphic diagrams. If you have any mechanical intuitiveness at all, you'll have no problems.
