From the New York Times best-selling authors of Abundance and Bold comes a practical playbook for technological convergence in our modern era.

In their book Abundance, best-selling authors and futurists Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler tackled grand global challenges, such as poverty, hunger, and energy. Then, in Bold, they chronicled the use of exponential technologies that allowed the emergence of powerful new entrepreneurs. Now the best-selling authors are back with The Future Is Faster Than You Think, a blueprint for how our world will change in response to the next 10 years of rapid technological disruption.

Technology is accelerating far more quickly than anyone could have imagined. During the next decade, we will experience more upheaval and create more wealth than we have in the past hundred years. In this gripping and insightful roadmap to our near future, Diamandis and Kotler investigate how wave after wave of exponentially accelerating technologies will impact both our daily lives and society as a whole. What happens as AI, robotics, virtual reality, digital biology, and sensors crash into 3D printing, blockchain, and global gigabit networks? How will these convergences transform today’s legacy industries? What will happen to the way we raise our kids, govern our nations, and care for our planet?

Diamandis, a space-entrepreneur-turned-innovation-pioneer, and Kotler, best-selling author and peak performance expert, probe the science of technological convergence and how it will reinvent every part of our lives - transportation, retail, advertising, education, health, entertainment, food, and finance - taking humanity into uncharted territories and reimagining the world as we know it.

As indispensable as it is gripping, The Future Is Faster Than You Think provides a prescient look at our impending future.

This next installment in the Exponential Technology series, which includes Abundance and Bold, stands quite confidently on its own.

The Future is Faster Than You Think is a dizzying, yet ultimately hopeful, tour de force of what is already possible with technology, and what is on and over the horizon.

Peter and Steven do an admirable job of not only curating the vast field of emerging technologies, but also in showing how these technologies are converging with one another to create novel and accelerated offerings.

With converging technologies in every area of human life, from agriculture, to transportation, to healthcare, to you-name-it, the future is not only going to be faster than you think, it is going to be better than you think.

Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler have done it again. In The Future Is Faster Than You Think, the third installment of their “Exponential Mindset Trilogy”, they’ve built upon the concepts presented in their previous books Abundance and Bold to describe how technology can open up new possibilities and change the world. This book is a must-read for entrepreneurs, and business and civic leaders in any industry who are looking for a playbook on how to prepare for the seismic changes ahead and protect their organizations from becoming disrupted by the technological forces that are coming at an ever-increasing rate.

In the first part, they examine the forces of acceleration and describe how converging technologies are creating an environment of unprecedented change. In part two, they provide a wealth of material covering multiple industries, showing how these technologies will impact our daily lives over the next ten years. In the final section, they expand their time-horizon to the next one hundred years and describe the environmental, economic and existential risks that threaten the progress made to date.

A highly-engaging, mind-blowing, can’t-put-it-down read. The practical take-aways from this book are invaluable. Essential reading for anyone interested in technology, disruption and and innovative thinking. Add this to your reading list now

Yes, all those subjects (& more, including Moore's Law...& Rose's La, as well) are included and given a glimpse of what these Exponential Technologies will bring to humans in the next decade. Then there is a look into the possibilities of what could go wrong, with an overview of five great migrations coming in this century. The Future of Entertainment, Education, Healthcare, Longevity, Food, etc. are all here in this tremendous book. This is a must read if you need some hope for a future that is coming, no matter who is president. Immigrants have been and will be a major factor in how we get there. I bring this book wherever I go and it is a great conversation starter. As a substitute teacher, I had to cover an Entrepreneurship class at a local high school where there was no lesson plan, so I referenced the six 'D's in the book and explained how to be successful - Digitalization, Deception, Disruption, Demonitization, Dematerilaization & Democratization. So many things to say about the book. Our world is changing faster than we think and it's just accelerating.
I know I'm not doing justice to the book by writing a short review so my apologies to the authors, both of which I hold in high regard.
If you want to know what is coming (sooner than you think or anticipate) read this book to get not only how but also why this is possible now, and wasn't available / possible earlier.

I feel like I need to read through this 2-3 more times just to collect my thoughts on everything they discussed. The emergence & convergence of so many technologies at this point in history is truly breathtaking. I always take things kinda of things with a grain of salt, but if even 10% of what they discuss plays out like they think it will, then the future is indeed incredibly exciting.

Regardless if you agree with the book’s analysis, I think this is an important book to add to your reading list. It will challenge your perceptions of what’s possible, it’ll stretch your imagination, and it just might inspire you - like it has me - to think bigger than you ever have before.

My favorite book 0f 2012 was these same author's book, Abundance. I finished the book understanding and appreciating that now was the best time in human history to be alive. Long ago, I understood that much of my happiness in life is the anticipation of an even better future. The Abundance book brought that home to me then. The Future if Faster than you Think doubles down on how my life … our lives … are getting better at a faster rate. For me, someone in my late '70's, it also awakens the possibility of this, the best part of my life so far, extending farther into the future than I had hoped.
Thank you Peter and Steven, once again you have made my life better.

Welcome to the roaring 2020s tech guide from Peter Diamandis. Peter is my personal hero and I love his books. You should definitely read Bold. Still reading this book to get a sense what trends are fast approaching from autonomous flying taxis to robots for elderly and VR googles for judges. lol

The books is easy to read and has some insights about the future. Some of these concepts have been discussed in his earlier works and the authors now just integrate them into being done faster. As an interesting side note, some of these concepts were first discussed in 2012 and have not made as much progress as the authors tended to believe. I would recommend this book and it was enjoyable. As for their predictions, well, I hope so but am skeptical on a several.

As an avid reader of science fiction as a child, this book describes how many of the seemingly incredible concepts will become reality within five to ten years. Quite astonishing, the accelerated change we’re seeing, and the authors do a tremendous job of tying everything together. A real eye opener which leaves the reader optimistic for the future.

Starting with abundance, this series of near future predictions are a welcome break from this kind of "reporting"
Donnie is at the circus when shockingly an African lion attacks a young girl. He runs up and punches the lion right in the nose. A reporter says “Truly you are magnificent, that's most heroic thing I’ve ever seen”
Donnie replies “I just did what I thought was right, god protects me”
Oh you’re a Christian
Yes I teach bible class
The journalist says “I want everyone to know what you did here today. It’s a great story”
The next day front page headline…
“Right wing Christian fundamentalist assaults African Immigrant and steals his lunch”

Just like Steven Kotler's other work, this book is amazing. I learned alot, and couldnt stop talking about what i learned to my wife and colleagues. It also got me really excited in new technologies and looking forward to the future in front of us.

To borrow from Wayne Gretky on his success "don't go to where the puck is - go to where the puck is going to be". To succeed in business in the coming decade, you need to know where the opportunities are going to be. This is the roadmap to where business is going to be!

- kennedy_edwards

This is superb. If you want to know where just about everything except politics is going, this is the book for you.

Fraco.

- calliope_gonzales

I’m finding it as amazing as Peter’s first two books, Bold and Abundance.

Great book

Great way to keep abreast of the ever-changing work environment. I would be interested to hear what the author has to say about how the current covid-19 pandemic will cause some of the predictions made in this book to come true.
