Pulitzer Prize-winning Dr. Seuss’s classic Beginner Book is now part of a book and audio CD package, with word-for-word storytelling by Jason Alexander.
Arguably the most entertaining alphabet book ever written, this is perfect for children learning their ABCs. Featuring a fantastic cast of zany characters—from Aunt Annie’s alligator to the Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz, with a lazy lion licking a lollipop and an ostrich oiling an orange owl—Dr. Seuss’s ABC is a must-have for every young child’s library.
“An alphabet book with zany drawings and nonsensical verse provides an entertaining way for small children to learn the letters and their sounds.”—Booklist

Originally created by Dr. Seuss, Beginner Books encourage children to read all by themselves, with simple words and illustrations that give clues to their meanings.
The book is a great book - love how it presents the alphabet with both the upper-case and lower-case letters.

The three stars is in regards to the construction of the book. The cover is super flimsy, and the "binding" is just two staples in the middle of the book. Really really disappointed. Wish I would have bought a used hard-cover instead.

Was looking for more educational ways to entertain than dvds.Tons of fun and well read.My 4 year old enjoyed it tremendously. I played it in the car and he loved turning the pages and trying to read along. Will buy more of this series

My nephew absolutely loves this book. My mom reads him the story before bed and then he listens to the CD as he falls asleep. Grandma and nephew approved!

This book is intended for toddlers/preschoolers as it teaches the alphabet through short phrases and funny words (as is the style of Dr. Seuss). This particular edition is not as nice as the hardcover as it a large softcover paperback with no spine of 23 cm (9") x 16.5 cm (6"), but the pages and cover are of good quality. The book comes in a protective plastic envelope, with an inside pocket for the CD. The CD itself does not have a hard plastic case, but is stored as is in the pocket. The plastic envelope in which the book is stored has a simple flap for closure, but there is no fastener so it tends to flap open. If I try to tuck it inside to keep it closed, the flap does not close over the CD pocket which puts the CD in danger of falling out through the opening. My Fox in Sox CD version has a velcro circle as a fastener on the flap of its plastic envelope - very practical - but unfortunately this one does not.

The CD contains the narration of the text by the actor Jason Alexander (George Constanza, people!) who does a great job of reading aloud. The text is read twice: Once with the little "ding" of a bell to indicate when the pages are to be turned, and a second time without the bell. I wish the version with the bell had more of a pause between the sound of the bell and the reading of the text of the following page to allow more time to turn the page. Sometimes, by the time my son or I have had time to turn the page, the reading of the text on the next page has already started. Still, I find the CD to be a great supplement to the book and sometimes my son likes to listen to the story while playing with his toys.

Note: I've updated my comment to mention that I bought this book in 2008 for my oldest son. My second son, born in 2012, now enjoys this book and CD as much as his brother did.
